If you want to talk hardcore, go no further than tri-state/new england hardcore. The northeast ruled the scene in the 80s and we still rule it today. |
Doesn't stop us from having a healthy scene anyway, especially because most Canadian hardcore is so disparaging. Go It Alone, In Stride, Get the Most, Set Foot, Circles, sh*t like that. good stuff.

yes plz. In which case, Op Ivy, Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Bosstones, Sublime, and Keasbey Nights-era Catch 22 are the heavy hitters of ska punk for me.. though generally I prefer 2Tone era ska like the Specials and Madness.

Ska Punk? Sure. I'm a fan of it, myself. EDIT: Someone already beat me to it! In which case, I've never really been into Ska that much. I've never delved much further than the mainstream bands and a few odd-picks. Though overall I'm a fan of; Less Than Jake, Spangle, Culture Shock, Citizen Fish & some later Clash (if you count it as Ska). I also consider X-Ray Spex to be an early prototype for the Ska Punk genre, as well as Riot Grrl! But that may just be me. I was real big on them when I first got into ska. They're good for that. I still like 'em, especially older stuff, but yeah, once you get to know some more bands they kinda lose their edge.
