Thanks guys!

@anuj
Could you please pick another one?
I can choose two pictures for the competition.

@Nah Tso Gud
#1 and #4, the first one because a rose is just something everybody likes, and almost everybody chooses that one.
The fourth because it's something I have never seen before, and it's just special smile.gif
What are your two favorites?

I might be exaggerating a little, but could I make a poll for it?
I really want to win to be honest and as you guys are quite a bit more professional photographers, your opinions are very much appreciated blush.gif

I would have to say 1 and 3...

1 - it's nice how the leaf sort of mimics the out of focus hill in the background.. This shot could have benefited from a bit of cloud overcast ( cloudless days are less than ideal because of the harsh shadows the sun can cast ) or by using something to diffuse the light, did you look up that 5-1 reflector I mentioned on the last page? I just bought a 22 inch for like 11 bucks that I will use whenever I shoot flowers, the core of the reflector is a diffusion panel which will soften shadows and make them more pleasing to the eye.

I think my favorite of the lot is 3, the composition of the main flower with the repetitiveness of the others, nice depth of field.. it's just a bit of a shame for the building(?) in the background.

I'm no professional and I'm only shooting an entry level camera, but I figured I would post some of my favorite exposures in here.

These two were at the Holocaust Memorial of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation in South Beach. I was in Miami for a few days and was just walking around the city to find something to do. I walked about a mile and a half away from my hotel and found this. It was around sunset and, even better, it was empty, so nobody could walk in front of me, etc.

The next three were shot at the cruise ship port and Mallory Square in Key West, Fla. facing the Gulf of Mexico.

I'm shooting an Olympus E-420 and I've got Zuiko Digital 14-42mm and 40-150mm lenses.

What body and lens are you using? I got by pretty well with a Canon XSi and cheapo 50mm 1.8 shooting my buddies band a few years ago.

I use a nikon D40 with a 50mm f/1.8. Which I assume is the Canon equivalent. I then tweak the settings in order to push my camera to its limit. I make sure the shutter can go off as fast as possible as well as lowering the ISO as far as it will go. Doing this makes for great shots like I've been getting, but I usually will have to deal with noise in post production. There doesn't seem to be any middle ground. Because if I'm not messing with noise, I'm messing with exposure which will end up looking too grainy.

@Kajun, thanks, I'll have to check it out. I never heard of it.

I have used Neat Image for photoshop, but I didn't seem to have too much luck with it.

Thought about renting or borrowing a flash gun? Could make all the difference.

Well flash can sort of kill the ambient lighting at the gig so it needs to be used sparingly.

What shutter speed are you shooting for the concerts? Pushing the exposure in post can wreak havoc as far as noise is concerned. So you don't want to under expose too drastically. Exposing properly with a higher ISO should be more manageable than shooting lower ISO and raising exposure after the fact.

Low ISO and long exposure with the flash gets nice results if you do it right. Flash to expose the subject then let the long shutter speed expose the rest with some nice movement. I suppose I should have asked what type of music it was as this may not be suitable either.
