@Mick I'll admit when I first saw the shot I thought it was really nice capture and I wasn't entirely sure it was shopped until I noticed the shadows. For me though, you'd have to go the whole hog with it. Not just removing shadows, but adding new ones (e.g. the bike in the background needs one) and changing various other shadows as well, but then I'm such a massive perfectionist that I annoy myself with it. Maybe I'm nitpicking.

@Alex The blur might be partly to do with resizing. Do you sharpen your shots after resizing them? It's a vital step, especially when you're scaling down to web size.

Bored / trying to get back into the hobby.. anyone down for a photo theme, kinda thing? biggrin.gif

Not sure what you mean, like a contest type of deal? That would be cool, like the SOTW topic but Picture of the Week(/month?) and have a different theme everytime, such as cars, nature, animals, abstract, etc, etc. I'd be down.

Not nit-picking at all buddy. I think it's great feedback, I appreciate it. You know, I think that's what I'll do. I don't normally photoshop that much but I like this one as a sort of poster-style photo, a little bit unrealistic, stylish and fun. I'm going to borrow Narcis' idea of adding in more dramatic clouds.

Narcis, I have some photos of clouds like that but I'm curious to see the one you added.

Liffey Valley shopping center from my room on a very, very warm day. Very rare that you see the sun like that in Ireland. tounge.gif

One of the rare times we get skies like that. I always catch a few snaps when it's nice out!

I also bought a fisheye, If you need an extremely wide angle for cheap, get this (wow, they raised the price from $250 confused.gif); I was literally about 2 feet away from that ramp:

Nice stuff LC, love that first one and the fisheye shot, at first I wish it had flash but I think like the near silhouette biggrin.gif I think the hair makes it smile.gif

Anyhow, my friend just got into photography, what inspired him was water drops.. so I was showing him a little bit about it.. I sortve think its a hassle and pretty boring.. but it is cool when you get a unique one.. this one isnt anything special.. didnt really get too many keepers in my opinion.

Finally got my ass out to take some photos today. Had to show one of my buddies how to use the D5100 he just bought, so I took him on a field trip to my old backyard because there's tons of stuff to shoot there. I ended up running around with my extension tubes stacked on my 55-200 taking photos of all the bugs I could find. Got a few solid shots, pretty sure my friend is going to grab some extension tubes now. Anyways, pics.

There was a sh*t ton of those moths (I think, could be butterflies) around. The underside of their wings looked leafy, but the backside was almost like a monarch butterfly.

Nice macro stuff, you got a nice variety of subjects there. biggrin.gif I remember seeing those butterflies / moths as a kid in a tree outside my house ( in Minnesota ).. it mustve been during some sort of migration, because the whoooole tree was damn near full of them. They were so well camoflouged that couldnt really tell until one of us threw a rock. Mean I know hah..

Ill be off to the North Shore of Lake Superior this Thursday for a mini hiking / camping trip. Hope to get some nice landscapes, water falls shots and hopefully some Milky Way photos as well.. maybe lightning if the weathers bad. I think you just inspired me to bring my macro lens Kajun icon14.gif maybe catch a few critters out in the wild.

All taken with my Sony Ericsson X10. Unedited, merely resized.

Love the bokeh I can get with this phone on macro, but I'm planning on getting a Canon PowerShot S100 soon for a closer focus distance amongst many other benefits vs phone camera.

Got quite a few from my phone that I forgot I had, there of the sky at different times in my hometown.

Taken about 18months ago

user posted image

Taken about a year ago or so. Really like the colour on this one.

user posted image

Taken roughly over a year ago..

user posted image

This was about 6-9 months [ish] ago. Love the colour of the sky. Looks like a fire.

user posted image

And this is most recent, must have been only about a month ago? I caught it at just the right time.

user posted image

Not usually a photography person, but like I said, I found a couple on my old phone before selling it and I've just been in the right place at the right time really.
