Let's get back to Windows 7 troubles. It's quite possible to start a new game of TTDISA on Windows 7. The problem is that you can't load your old saves (and this point ruins everything for me). By "old saves" I mean saved games made on XP, before upgrading to Windows 7. Compatibility. Here is how I see it works. Alt and SilentPL, thanks for the info.Install GTA without choosing any compatibility for setup file - it should work on most Win7 systems. Add TTDISA without compatibility. This installs so-called "friendly" mode, without some of the features. New game starts easily. Old saves don't work because they were made in "full" mode. Add TTDISA with compatibility set to any of XP variants. This way you force the mod to install the "full" version. Now the game has all the features and I am almost 100% sure that it should load all old saves. The problem is that the game won't work because the above mentioned features use some weird memory access that cause the game to crash under Win 7. I've spent quite a lot of time (and I guess like many of you) trying to find a workaround for this. Seems that there is only one reliable way to get things working - Dual Boot - Installing XP as a second OS. Don't rush and do that. It's somewhat tricky and requires some plannig. Search goole for "installing xp after windows 7". It shows links to a lot of sites and forums describing this process step by step with links to all required software. Virtual machines are not good enough at this time to handle the hard task of runnig GTA:SA . Any other ideas ? This post has been edited by tau1993 on Friday, Apr 13 2012, 00:18

I believe you can't install the mod, yes? The solution should be pretty simple then - rename your EXE file from gta-sa.exe to gta_sa.exe (oddly Steam has it with -), installer should detect the EXE fine then. |
I tried, it didn't. So I downloaded an iso, and now I have a new problem. The mission bar loads and it crashes as it is fully loaded. I am running Windows Vista. EDIT: I found out why, for some reason it had installed the full edition. I swapped it out with the friendly one and it works now. This post has been edited by Gurluas on Monday, Apr 30 2012, 16:07

I found new things for the people who is working on BETA Missions. On the beta, the cutscene "Big Smoke" who's a mission. I found some text about that mission on the american.gxt Look at here a description: INTRO1 BDA83A9F ~s~Drive to the ~y~cemetary~s~ with Big Smoke. In the normal version i never heard about "Go to the cementary" on the first mission. So, that's something from beta big smoke mission

Hey guys, I have some awesome info. With a bit of help from NTAuthority I managed to fix incompatibility with Vista and 7 by using simple ASI, and now I can run full main on my OS (which is Vista)! I think I may release it soon (it's a very simple ASI, so it needs ASI loader to work), as soon as I'll FINALLY fix my unofficial main crash. And I think that I may write sort of commandline tool to convert saves from friendly main to be compatible with full main instead. Edit: Fixed my fix crash. Now I only need to write a friendly -> full converter and it's ready to go. Can anyone send me a savegame made on friendly version of main???Edit2: YAY! Launched a friendly-main-made savegame on my full SCM. I may even integrate the savegame updater with my ASI, so no more two mains and stuff This post has been edited by SilentPL on Saturday, Jun 9 2012, 13:03
