Yeah, the levels in previous games were much more like puzzles, a jigsaw or rubik's cube you had to work at to get the best possible route and finesse to complete your goal.
I agree that the hand to hand was sh*t but as said, it was supposed to be, you are meant to be encouraged not to shoot up the place and easily punch your way past people. You are meant to use your brain and think, otherwise why bother sell it as a stealth or strategy style game when you can just run and gun. Even when doing that you have to fight the entire level which made it a challenge and not just piss to run through.
Remember Hitman 2, where you couldnt even melee without a knife or being behind someone with the fibre wire. I remember trying so hard to get those guards on the 2nd to last level where they took all your equipment and you were getting hunted by russians.
So that is the point, its not a game for morons to just pick up and run through a level, each level is meant to be figured out, you are meant to explore and observe and recon the area before you make any drastic descisions. Then to be played over and over to make the hit as perfect and flawless and unseen as possible. Going loud with guns is just a last resort when you mess up some stealth.
It defo sounds just like splinter cell conviction. Which that game was fun, but had the worst shooting in a game I have ever played, but it was fun to play, but once it was finished it was useless.
As I have said many times before, I just hope to god, I mean I REALLY hope, that its just a simple way to show off the game and the levels shown are only linear or simple sections of the game and its still the same game we love.
Bottom line is there are a million games like this, nothing was EVER like the old hitman games.
We could do without this if its just a splinter cell.

Man, I just got baked and watched the 16min gameplay demo. Wow. It's even better than I remembered. Worries aside about a dumbed down game, I'm just gonna play on the hardest difficulty. It looks so beautiful. Can't wait to play it. [IMG]http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/79/79749.jpg[IMG] [IMG]http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/79/79753.jpg[IMG] Hiding bodies in the wardrobe. Priceless. [IMG]http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/79/79759.jpg[IMG] I'm loving the dark and sinister look about this game. It looks quite moody and atmospheric. Reminds me of Max Payne. sh*t, those photos are big. This post has been edited by ThePinkFloydSound on Sunday, Feb 5 2012, 23:44

| QUOTE (SIKKS66 @ Thursday, Feb 9 2012, 22:46) | It's not just linearity people are concerned about. It's dumbing down the game. It's removing the voice of the character. It's removing the guy who makes the epic soundtracks. It's giving 47 stupid superhero style skills. It's a number of things that keep adding up that make us concerned.
I'm not going to worry about it until the game is released. Expectations have been up and down like a roller-coaster cause of this thread. Proof will be in the tasting, or something, I guess. | Oh i know the other reasons, of course and removing the original VA is one I actually am truley annoyed at, but I will still buy the game, the new guy prob will grow on you (as long he's not american sounding) The original composer Jysper kyd generally was'nt available to do the soundtrack due to other projects , he was'nt fired or anything and it was he who actually recommended the new composer to IO. so stop blaming IO for this one, nothing to do with them. And from reading this post the the gameplay mechanics I defended in my last post seem to be some of the reasons people are assuming the game is dumbed down

| QUOTE (Warlord. @ Tuesday, Mar 6 2012, 08:49) | When I realised that you had the option to not use that 'instinct' bullsh*t (which by the way is an obvious copy and paste of Eagle Vision from Assassin's Creed, so much for creativity, eh IO?), I thought that the devs were giving players the option to play the game the way previous Hitman games played... until I got to the heli scene.
Seriously, that scene confirms the extreme linearity of the game. Hitman has become what everyone feared it would, a rail shooter. | Yeah but to be fair, 47 wasn't exactly shooting at the helicopter. He was evading it. That mission was all about evasion and using his stealth skills to avoid (or confront, if you chose) the police who are out hunting 47. Adds a new twist to the game. As long as there are still contracts that need wits and intelligence to complete, it should be okay. As I said in an earlier post, I've given up caring until the game gets out. My expectations have risen and fallen with every little bit of news that's come out.
