Well they say gold never rusts so it's going to have a longer life as a conductor I'd guess. The xbox slim comes with a free, cheapo HDMI cable and when my old 360 died I put my gold plated PURE AV HDMI cable between my Sky box and TV. I've been using the free one with the slim since I got it, and I haven't noticed any difference.

If you're playing thru component cables, then there's a massive difference between those and HDMI.

I'm about to fire it up now so I'll do a little test and get back later.

I have a few quickies here...
I have a Xbox that was patched.. Is it possible to join Xbox Live?
I have been playing PIRATED DISKS and I install them.. But sometimes it says "Disk Unreadable". Does anyone knows how to fix this problem? Also, how to clean the Xbox?

You can access Live but there's a big chance you're console will get banned very quickly and it's a ban for life on the console.

Clear the system cache, check for any corrupted save files or any corrupted data in Games and Apps in your harddrive.

Try not to pirate discs in future and pay like the rest of us. wink.gif

@Paul: People will try sell you gold-plated HDMI cables for more money. I think it's a bit gimmicky. The nature of HDMI cables is that they work or they don't. There's no difference in visual quality only in the actual design and strength its built but not visually. Please someone correct my if I'm wrong.

Thanks.. BTW, its not like I have a choice ya know... sad.gif I want to buy the originals but in my country, specifically my state, does not have any originals except for PS3s due to high import tax... You need to go to the city center on the other side of the country and 1 disk costs about RM120+ if I'm not mistaken which is approximately:
31 Euros
38 US Dollars

Your welcome buddy, not having a go. I feel for ya bro. I'm lucky to have Xbox and games readily available.

@Joeseph: There's that too, yes. icon14.gif I've just heard shop assistants saying gold helps the signal travel faster etc, lol.

Cables have been and always will be a rip off if you don't shop around. The margin on them is ridiculous. I recently picked up a few 12' HDMI gold connecter cables from Amazon for about $8 each. I saw the same cables on other sites for $30-40.

Are you seriously complaining about price? Australian games are roughly $80-$120 new (about $81-$123 US). tounge.gif

Oh, thanks for the HDMI answers guys, gonna look for those "Golden" ones.
And another question: Is it me, or does the PAL- change quality? Because i changed from PAL-60 to PAL-50, it looks a little better. But i can't play any games with it because it still requires PAL-60.

Live is down for people signing in. It's a known issue. Microsoft are working to fix it right now. Some profiles will work others wont.

I've been clocking up some time in Arkham City, f*ck that game rocks. I've been doing all the Riddler related stuff and the AR Training. Some of those Riddler' trophies were hard to get but GODDAMN was it amazing to get them. And the first Advanced AR training is f*cking hard, took me a good hour to get it. All I have to do now is knock out something for Catwoman and then I will do New Game Plus. Gotta buy Harley's Revenge too.

Need to get some Live time also. f*cking sucks but oh well.

Speaking of overpriced HDMI cables, a 1.5m HDMI cable is $49.95 in most electrical stores in Australia, and a gold plated is $99.95. This is just 1.5m mind you. However some game stores have longer ones for about $14 so if you know where to look it's ok.

There isn't. Component can display 1920x1080. I use HDMI and there is no difference in quality, if there was it was due to the TV's settings for that input as my TV downstairs looked really dark with HDMI. A quick change in the settings sorted that out.

I thought component could only display as high as 1080i? When I swapped to HDMI and 1080p, the main difference I noticed was on the dashboard, as everything was smaller and neater, similar to raising the resolution on a computer. There isn't much difference with games because most don't even utilise 1080p.

I think you're right with component displaying 1080i. The other difference is that HDMI is digital (1's and 0's) and component is analogue. The image quality should be the same for the two but it depends on the source of video and how the TV can convert analogue to digital etc.
I want Microsoft to release a new console as the 360's hardware is very dated and it's limiting to games. I hope next year they reveal a new Xbox as I'm tired of blurry textures, fps lag, playing games at 720p upscaled to 1080p and having fuzzy shadows. I hope they keep the controller design though.

Don't expect a new console next year. MS is pretty adamant they are going to push Kinect still and Smart Glass. That is their focus for the next 12 - 18 months.

Couldn't you just use a USB now since the update ages ago? Just put the songs on, plug in the USB to the Xbox and transfer the songs over to your Xbox hard drive? But I guess if you've already done the CD version, I would think that just putting the CD in and going to the info area of the CD and selecting to install whatevers on the CD to the Xbox HDD would work too?

Edit - Question for myself too. I want to download San Andreas to the 360 - except I need to buy points. No issues I have the money, however when I'm on my Live account it shows me that I have my debit card details except that card expired earlier this year. I dismiss this and just use the same details just with a 2015 expire date. It doesn't accept this as a new payment method because it already has it (even though its old expire date) whenever I click edit on the '12 card it just gives me a ''bad request'' page. Is this just MS server being a bitch and not working right now? Or do I really have to ring up MS just to change a freaking detail on an old card?
