| QUOTE (darthYENIK @ Tuesday, May 15 2012, 08:29) | | I'm a huge Microsoft critic when it comes to XBL. And I used to have a problem paying for online multiplayer, being that I was introduced to it on PC where it's free for the average user and game. But on Xbox, you're almost guarantied a good experience. The peace of mind in knowing that you'll be on a reliable server, without hackers, or asshole mods that boot you if you kill them, is well worth $50-$60 a year. f*ck MS points, or Microsofts practical ignoring of long time members and the ridiculous prices of some of the sh*t they sell on their marketplace, but I'm cool with the gold membership. | That may change when MS phase out MS Points at the end of the year.

That may have something to do with your location, the quality of your connection or your router settings. Connections to Australia have always been laggy for me. The party system has been a little spotty this year but generally we don't have many problems with it. | I just bought a new modem, because previously I had a sh*tty telstra one that made my nat type strict on everything except MW2, and now everything works perfectly on my PS3 and Xbox 360 so I'd imagine the party chat on my Xbox won't be so sh*tty now. Great investment!

What's the reasoning behind that, may I ask? | Not sure if it was on here or another site, but yeah, they changing it all into real payments now...I believe? Kind of 50/50 on this whole idea though. One side thinks it will make the whole process much easier, but then the other side of me realises that it only accepts credit cards to make purchases, or it did when I had my 360.

| QUOTE (Seddo @ Wednesday, May 16 2012, 23:47) | | no way they'll alienate a massive chunk of their customers and start forcing them to use credit cards. | Especially when you're dealing with people trusting to use their credit cards to purchase stuff. I know it seems slightly extreme, but have a look at what happened when Sony got hacked, and people had their information stolen. People don't forget stuff like that too easily. I'm only up for this idea if they start to let people use their debit cards instead, and make it so it deletes your information as soon as you have made the purchase.

| QUOTE (Seddo @ Wednesday, May 16 2012, 19:47) | Are MS actually going through with the idea of phasing MSP out, thought it was still rumours.
If they do go with real currency then they'll no doubt still carry one with pre-paid cards, no way they'll alienate a massive chunk of their customers and start forcing them to use credit cards. | Hey ya know what? I was thinking all sorts of the same sh*t yesterday. As much as I want them to go to a straight system, I realized they might be dicking over the little guys. I don't understand their current system with how they divya out bonus points and sh*t like that. But, when thinking about it - it sounds like they will have to do away with some of their specials and stuff. You know - real money equals real money, and it isn't like an arcade that uses tokens and can offer 2 for 1 play weekends anymore. Curious to see if and how this plays out.

I mentioned the MS Points thing over a month ago, yes, it's more then likely it's to be phased out for some other method. Since I heard back about even MENTIONING PS here in the MS XBox SHOW YOUR LOVE thread, I may resort to any future Playstation mention within spoiler tags, as I would say, if you prefer not to hear or see it, avoid it, you have your own free will and I have mine as well. I mention PS in the PS thread, I even edit my last post there if there's more info, or here, anywhere it's not bumped periodically

| QUOTE (darthYENIK @ Friday, May 18 2012, 20:58) | | Yeah, the temptation is the dangerous part. It'll be more dangerous when they get rid of MS points, because that's one barrier that usually stops me from buying all sorts of crap I wont care about 5 minutes after buying it. | So true, and I bet that's the case for 90% of us here. If I did happen to have had a credit card stored on my 360 account, I'd have regretted it within a couple of weeks, the amount of random crap I wanted to download. At least with having to go to a shop and buy the points, it meant having to really think about what was worth the money and what wasn't.

Between my beer drinking at night, and my wife not knowing that MS points equals real money - I have sh*t like Wolfenstein3D, DigDug, Streets of Rage...the list of unplayed crap goes on and on. Oh and she is also the one for outfitting my avatar. When there are no points left it is just too easy to say 'yeah, add another crapload of points'.
