Im having an odd issue on my new PS3 slim.

When it reads a disk theres a weird grind noise. What could this be?

Hi guys today i was payng on gta iv multiplayer in free roam mode with 7-8players. The fansuddenly went REALLY loud so i quickly wet to he menu screen and turn off system. I thnkt could be oevrheat its never happened before its been quite hot in the uk lately with temps 9 C higher than normal. Help should i turn it n again or will the earth explode?

Turn it on again. What else can you do? Install a water cooling? Keep it clean and remove any dust, do not place it ontop an oven. And if it totally breaks, send it back to Sony and request a new one because the old one exploded.
Surrounding temps up to 35°C should be no problem for the system I think.

If it hasnt happened again then its fine. it might of been a random tech hiccup. It happens. Mine turned off randomly one day with 3 beeps. never happened again since. It also froze fully a few times randomly too. It happens to me mostly when i play Little Big Planet 2 or Fallout New Vegas. But it dont happen on any other game.

Guys today I finally got my PS3 gamestop summer bundle and also 4 games. I got GTA 4 Complete Edition and i wanted to ask when i shoot rockets with the rocket launcher the game frame rate drops. Is it normal?
And also I got DLC Voucher to download The Sly Collection so I wanted to know how big in size is each game for me to download.

How many rockets do you shoot? A few shouldn't really drop the fps but if you shoot like 5 and blow up 5 cars then it'll lag a bit.

I just shoot 1 rocket at a car and it blows up and lags a bit

I tried to access PSN it told me to update the system so I download the system update from my PC to a Kingston 2GB USB Drive. I followed the instructions correctly and after downloading i plugged in the USB to my PS3 but there is no flashing light on the USB and it doesn't work on the PS3. Can anyone tell me what to do?

Consoles suck so yeah normal, try both USB Ports or a different USB, or download it straight from psn it will do it automatically once you set up internet on it.

Make sure the USB is formated as FAT32, or it wont be recognized. the PS3 blocks all NTFS file system devices, so you cant use the drive if its NTFS. Make sure its not. If it is, you need to format it as FAT32.

Don't listen to him. Keep your system well ventilated. Don't put it up against a wall for example. Some of us even use a fan to keep the system cool. I've recorded 140 F coming out the back of my fattie. Some games also put an extra strain on the PS3 (looking at you Fallout3) Just try not to keep it on all day long, or take a break every couple of hours. Leaving a game on pause for a long time can also cause the system to overheat.
