I guess Mike Tyson has my respect to some degree. However I think that he is somewhat warped. For example the famous incident where he bit Evander Holyfield, and obviously his rape conviction.

That said, for a guy who was about 5 feet 8 inches tall he was certainly punching above his weight for his entire career and that takes real class and guile. And to become an undisputed champion is really just the icing on the cake for him. And since only 6 otehrs have unified the heavyweight belts since Muhammed Ali last did it it puts him amongside some pretty good boxers.

But in the end I don't know about Mike Tyson. He was my style of boxer in that he would stand toe to toe with anyone and try and punch them out, but like most great sportsmen he was flawed. And that's why I'm not quite sure what to make of him, there's too much controversy inside and outside of the ring for him to strip Evander of being my favourite recent heavyweight.

I think people are giving way too much credit to Klitscho in this up coming fight, I'm backing Haye for a knockout win, Klitscho hasnt faced any one really significant in the ring, just slow heavy weights, Haye is quick, and calculated, just hope he doesnt get over confident, because he comes across like bit of a big headed twerp, but Klitscho is no were near the standard of past heavy weights, he's a clever boxer sure, but he's never been truely tested.

I don't think that Haye is going to go for the KO. Normally against bigger boxers like Valuev for example he just goes for the points win. Although this is a dangerous strategy when you are away from home so he could be forced into swinging at Klitschko.

On the [completely different] subject of boxing books, I bought two today:

• Hands of Stone - A book about the life and career of Roberto Duran.
• Boxing's Hall of Shame - A book written by a former boxing journalist about the corruption which has dogged the sport in the past.

Hopefully they're both good reads, I've started reading the Hall of Shame book first because scandals always fascinate me and I love to take a walk on the dark side of any sport.

I predict both guys scoring knockdowns.

This is an interesting prediction and could be true, considering Wlad's trainer the legendary Emmanuel Steward (who has trained Lennis, De La Hoya, Hearns, Holyfield, etc) has said that he expects this fight to be as hard as Wlad's victory over Sam Peter in 2005 which saw Wlad knocked down three times on his way to a points victory against the Nigerian.

Still, I'm sticking with a 9th RD TKO stoppage by Klitschko, I don't think he'll knock him out with a one-punch wonder, but I think he will wear and tear him down over the fight. However I hope I am wrong, because since the retirement of Calzaghe and Hatton, it would be nice to see a British fighter at the top of the tree for a few months before his retirement.

The weigh in was brilliant. Glad to see all the British fans cheering Haye on.

Come on David Haye!

I had a dream last night that Haye won by KO, so obviously I stuck £20 on that at 7/2. A couple of my cousins are flying out to Germany for the fight, I'm insanely jealous.

Who was that British fella that got conned out of the win by the judges on Cologne last week? i forget his name but Lewis has his worries that it could happen again seeing as Klitschko currently lives in Hamburg and Lewis says he's got to go for the KO to win.

Me and a few mates have chipped in a bit of money together to watch it on Sky Box Office, that seems a bit crappy now compared to dills cousins tounge.gif.

Macklin-Strum, mind I don't think he was conned, personally I thought the fight could have gone either way as both fighters each dominated a half of the fight. But, judges in Germany usually do give notorious decisions to 'home-town' boxers, but if Haye is going to win he needs to avoid that not by potentially winning six or seven rounds and then crying about a controversial decision, but by winning all ten, eleven or twelve rounds and making the application of stupid scoring outside of the realm of the judges. Or more importantly if possible, by avoiding the judges completely (see 'Dana White') and knocking the big Ukrainian out cold.

That's what I was planning on doing. Going around to mates and chipping in with others but I can't get in touch with him so I might just buy it myself.

Couldn't you get it via Sky Box Office? I believe it's only £15.
I don't think Haye is going to win. I predict a third round knockout.

Anybody watching the haye v klitschko fight? I'm listening to it on radio 5 live, and by the sounds of it the security is an absolute joke. Haye and Klitschko both getting mobbed by fans and getting man handled.

I almost fallen asleep during watching this fight. It was so boring.

Did you had commercials between the rounds? In Polish TVP there was a commercial break between every round. Or PPV?
