All major GTA releases have either started on the PC or found their way to the PC after the console release (the only exceptions being the PSP/PS2 Stories). This has proven to greatly extend the shelf lives of these games via community modding and other customizations that are not possible with the console versions.

So, will Rockstar continue the tried-and-true tradition of bringing GTA to the PC some months after the intial console release? Or will they overlook this market as a result of the hot coffee debacle or some other reason?

Passing on the PC version would effectively amputate a huge part of the fanbase and thereby greatly reduce the shelf life and continued sales of the game. I'd personally like to believe Rockstar are smart enough business people not to be throwing a valuable PC market away like that.

I'm can guarantee that they will, usually they come right out and say "There will be no pc version of GTA [x]", and of course they always end up releasing it for PC (excluding the mobile story games - liberty and vice stories). They haven't said anything about the pc version for this game (including denying that a version will be released), so I'd guess it most likely is.

It's just that they want console versions to sell, so they release the PC version eons later so that people will buy the console version rather then going with the PC - which offers modding, and is subject to more widespread piracy. So after about a 6 months or a year we'll get it on the PC - so probably something like May-June 2008.

I believe that there will be a PC version. GTA4 is a BIG release with a new character, new gaming engine (which screams to the PC to say, play me ) better graphics etc...

It will come to the PC. The prices for console games are expensive compared to the PC.

Piracy for games have been going on for years. You can get the pirated games for consoles and PC's. It doesn't matter one way or another.

I'm hoping that this website below is true, look down for the PC version and look at the date. No price for it yet. The website is not in English and I can't read it but take a look.

You have to keep in mind that Rockstar want this game to sell as much as it can for a long period on the PS3 and XBOX 360, once the sales begin to drop, then will be the perfect moment for a PC release to boost sales back up, and the reason i said 2009 is becuase if this game sells alot (which it will) then the sale drop wont be sooner than fall 2008.

GTA IV to the PC? I'd say there's a 50-50 chance there and if it did come out on the PC, you would probably need Windows Vista to play it on, e.g. Shadowrun can only be played on vista unless theres a hack so you can play it on XP.

I think an even bigger factor that could potentially push the PC version back further would be the exclusive content that Microsoft is fronting $25m for each episode. I certainly hope it doesn't delay or kill the release of the PC version. Logically, PC sales of the game should in no way interfere with Microsoft's sales of the two episodes, I just hope they see it that way too.

i probaly wont get a ps3 untill the summer of next year so they better release a pc verson.

can you buy a ps2/3 controler which works on the pc.

PC - Action/Adventure

SA PC dates was 3-6 months after ps2 version, but their was a delay causing it to be a year behind.

just hope for a 3 month window.

i dont think so. if they were in it for just the money, theyd make gta a half assed or at most a half decent series. but no, every couple years, they better themselves, always giving us more than we want. they care about US, the customer. but they may also just be doing that so that well keep buying their games, so i dunno.

i actually read that theyre gonna stop selling xp! that sux. anyways, its just a rumour, so... if they do, ill kill bill gates anyways, i think vista is too complicated and hard to control, whereas xp (which im running) is and always will be windows king.
