My friends 06 MK 5 Jetta GLI will say 188 mpg when you first reset it and coast down a hill.

I actually calculated my MPG for the first time today (No fancy instruments to tell me of course) and it's 40MPG (UK gallons) which is quite good considering that's a range of town driving, hilly country roads and the occasional dual carriageway. The fuel economy seems much better now that it's not literally dumping fuel all over the road.

Meh, only 33 US. While that's certainly not bad for a carbed car, it's not exactly stellar for a 1 liter engine in this day and age. 1600 cc Bugs were getting 28 mpg 40 years ago.

It could probably do with having the fuel mixture adjusted further and a rolling road session. It will do for now though.

I love that SP12, but the rear bumper should not be all-grey, in the photos it looks like a rubber bumper and really cheapens an otherwise amazing-looking car.

In my 325ci, I get an average of 26 mpg. Not impressive, but not that bad either.

Still not bad though by any means.

Here's my beauty (this isn't an actual photo but this looks just like it):

It's a glorious 1989 Lincoln Towncar - 328,800 miles; still runs beautifully! It's quite a contrast between my previous car: 1993 Geo Storm. She's a little more sluggish - and quite a hog - but a hell of a lot more dependable. The steering is so easy and just driving with its size feels really relaxing. Unfortunately for me, no working stereo, and the previous owner said that the wiring is a bitch.

Anyway, I've been thinking since the back half has the vinyl, I want to try turning the front half convertable - much like the old Rolls Royce Phantom III's. (Here's an example:)

Yeah, it's a rather ridiculous idea, but I love this car and plan to make it as ridiculous as I please lol.

Cool, man.
Very nice.

That's a beautiful Lincoln you got there :-)

got a question for all you knowledgable car folks. thanks in advance for a response smile.gif

so my car battery died again today because i'd somehow left a ceiling light on all day. it's a 2006 hyundai so i don't doubt the battery could use replacing in the foreseeable future.

anyways, i had the car jumped by AAA so i could get home and the dude was telling me how the battery is pretty much dead and i need to replace it. he was pretty certain that "it won't start again, it won't recharge." well, he was trying to sell me a battery and i was on the verge of buying it, but just to be sure i tried starting the car up again, and voila, it worked.

but, what do you think my chances are that it will start tomorrow morning? (gotta get the airport, so i'm kinda sweating it) basically, am i correct to think this guy was just sh*tting me in order to sell me a battery? or am i in for a really sh*tty morning tomorrow?

[my drive home is only about 10 minutes, but I think that's a good amount of time for the battery to recharge, is it not?]

Alright, cool. I just took it for a 10-minute stroll, although it did feel a lil weak when starting up. But your advice is reassuring, thanks.

He was selling you a line of sh*t in an attempt to make a sale. Unless something statistically unlikely happened or your battery is stupid old, leaving your dome light on will do nothing more than drain your battery.

EDIT: WTF? How the f*ck did half of my post disappear? Its not even one half or the other. Half of the words from the center of the post are just gone.

Really someone from the triple A was trying to sell you stuff? I am pretty surprised at that. No joke, they are supposed to be professional and get you running or back home with the minimum of fuss right. Well dont buy into it.

Anyways, tyre talk. Anyone run Nexen? I was reading up on the N3000 and they seem a good deal for a cheapish tyre. I need 4 new corners and they seem to deliver a lot for a low price. Wet weather performance is (allegedly) bad but I was looking for some user input. Any thoughts? I am also looking at Falkens (my preference but a lot more costlier) and Kumho sport ku39. Sizes are 215/45r17.

I hate Armor All, guys.

Just spent a good hour and a half stripping my interior of the sh*t due to the used car lot literally painting it on before I purchased the car.

Woah, I like it.

Combines the looks of the 458, and the old school 512BB it looks quite well to boot.

Then again it helps that the 512BB is my third favorite Ferrari only behind the Daytona, and the F40.

Kinda disapointing it's a one off for Eric Clapton, but If I had the money to get a custom one of Ferrari, I'd do it too.

Im sure Americans are aware of this but we pay a lot more for petrol in the UK. At the moment it costs ...

£1.42 where I live per litre thats over $10 a gallon (Imp) maybe high $9 for US gallon.

I have a S280 1998 - want to buy a Diesal CLS.
