QUOTE (κενιη @ Friday, Feb 10 2012, 20:55)
I have to live 40 miles outside of Pittsburgh, PA to avoid basic things like yearly emissions testings.

Kind of surprised Knoxville has no testing whatsoever. Memphis and Nashville, the 1st and 2nd largest cities in the state do, as does Chatenooga, the 4th largest city in the state. As far as I know, they're the only 3 counties in TN that do testing of any sort, which is fine by me. I'm not living there.

I think California is one of the only ones that will test all the way back to the 70's to make sure they still comply. Most other states will have a 10, 15, or 25 year cutoff on vehicles that require emissions or safety testing. According to Laz/XN22, he told me CT made you test all cars older than 15 years to make sure they were still safe to drive on the road, kind of like a UK MOT. Would suck to have to throw all kinds of money at a car just to keep it legal.

The states in the southwest and northeast seem to be the strictest on it.

I know, I'm crazy but I found a great little Pontiac in Madison from Craigslist today:

http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/ctd/2851918570.html

I'm in love with it! I'm considering selling my Bonnie for 2k, getting a job, and picking up this dream boat <3. Thing is though, I really want a manual tounge.gif. Anyone got any good suggestions for a stick, 1990-up, under 2k car?

Mechanically, and probably electrically, it's identical to your Bonneville. Just in a slightly smaller package. Like barely smaller.

Hey guys, I've currently got a Hyundai Coupe SIII but looking to trade for something more economic, so either a Skoda Fabia VRS or the Seat Ibiza Sport, both have similar milage and are 1.9TDI's. Oh my Coupe is '07 so these will need to be around the same.

Any thoughts?

Headed out to the Canadian International Auto Show in about 30 minutes. Driving up to Toronto with the girlfriend and spending a few days up there. Gonna be on the show floor for two days, so expect many photos in the auto show photo topic on Sunday night/Monday night.

Should be fun. smile.gif

My Mini is rather unwell. Started on Friday morning when I was going up a hill on the dual carriageway and it kept losing power then coming back. Went out on Saturday morning to pick up a new rear screen for it and it was fine all the way there and back. Then I was driving down the dual carriageway on Sunday morning when it started juddering and losing power until it was doing 30MPH (How embarrasing). Turned off into a carpark to have a look at it and couldn't see anything obviously wrong. It was a pig to get started again after. Eventually got out of the carpark but on the way home it just died completely and wouldn't restart so I called the AA. He spent about half an hour messing around with it checking the sparks and dizzy before eventually getting it going again. Then about two minutes down the road it died again so he had another look at it but couldn't get it going so it was towed home.

Fitted a new condenser and points as well as checking the float in the carb. Fuel kept spilling out of the overflow and it turned out the previous owner had got two of the fuel lines the wrong way round (Which may explain the strong smell of petrol and poor economy it's been having). All the ignition seems fine. We're also in the process of adjusting the mixture as it seems to be running rich. It's a lot better now in the respect it's running fine. It's still got the original power loss problem going up that hill though confused.gif

What carbs are you running? SU's? Webbers?

I always thought SU's were a bitch to tinker with.

Anyone into diesels here? If so, I found this cool little buggy.

Mid-mounted Duramax/Allison/Atlas combo. IFS front with inboard discs, custom CV shafts, and A arms. H1 portals with CTIS. Rear looks to be a Dana 60, again with H1 portals and CTIS system. 4 wheel steering. aluminum beadlocks. Triple byepass bilsteins and coilovers. etc. f*ckin jizztastic.

I honestly think a problem that big could will kill the company. Just look at how the engine problems of the RO80 killed NSU. And replacement engines on them weren't near as expensive (even when converted to modern money) as the battery overhaul on a Tesla. When word gets out, and all prospective owners get spooked, it will break them.

Looks pretty sweet until you reach the front end. Not sure what the designer was thinking there. I'm going to reserve my judgement until the full Geneva release, though. Also, 740 HP.

porn. want. etc.

Wait a second. Didn't you call me a tool once for wanting/having a BMW? lol.

While, the car seems nice enough, it just doesn't seem that impressive this day and age. In a day and age were 700+ lb-ft gassers are the norm, a 550 lb-ft diesel just seems tame. Give me a diesel with a solid 500-550 hp and 750-800 lb-ft and I'll be a beating off to it furiously as well.

When did Ferrari switch over to mostly Front engined cars?
