Really digging the Kendrick Lamar track, a nice feel good track. The track definitely sounds like it was mixed by Dr. Dre as those drums hit hard. Kendrick surprised me with the somewhat lack-luster lyrics however. Although I'm assuming that is to compliment the track as a single.
It's good to finally here some new West Coast sh*t. Been waiting on something for a minute now. Speaking of which, Game's new mixtape California Republic should be dropping within the next few days. As always Game, DJ Skee and their camp f*cked around and acted unprofessional by promising the tape and then not delivering it; all whilst joking fans for likes and shares. It will probably end up being poorly mixed and mastered anyway. As long it has some stand-out tracks on there, as with his past mixtapes, I can't be too mad.

someone want to explain asap (funky im lookin at you) cos ive heard a bit , rockys and another tape, and it all sounded like southern hip hop made from NY and using southern slang and sometimes a bone thugs flow which is just proper f*ckin confusin to be honest
you know i just put livelovea back on and its soundin big...still a chopped screwed harlem rapper is wierd as f*ck "influenced by houston hear it in my music" ok fair enough
waiting on that mic tyson
Pretty much what you just said is why I like it, it's weird but it just works, for me anyway. I just remember playing the tape for the first time, that little bit of silence then "goddamn, how real is this?!" I was hooked from the start. I always thought Clams Casino beats were dope as f*ck but were wasted on Lil B, but with Rocky its perfect. Admittedly the production he has is what attracts me the most (Ty Beats, Spaceghostpurrp and Clams) and I'm not too keen on the rest of the A$ap mob, but whatever. I just enjoy the sh*t out of it. Also when your real name is Rakim you can't hate.
my sh*t, him and Q have a sick chemistry.
Seconded on that Mic Tyson, f*cking love Sean P.
That Kendrick track is sounding good, nothing but high hopes for his new sh*t, Cartoon and Cereal was a crazy track.
top track, nice one.. yeah production is killer. First time Trilla came on I zoned out to be fair. Its one of them that might take a while to sink in fully. You know part of the reason I even listened was that the name was so similar to aesop rock and I saw comments from pissed off aesop fans. I dont think they realised it was a crew name and were kicking off a bit. f*ckin idiots
im gonna go listen to some Kendrick Lamar anyway , see whats going on there

Azealia Banks' song '212' has been getting a lot of exposure recently, at least in the UK anyway. I liked 212 a lot, so I thought I'd look up some more of her stuff and came across this which I'm liking a lot. What do you guys think?

Azealia Banks' music be hit-and-miss for me at times, although 212 is amazing. She definitely can rap and sing her ass off though, so I'll be looking out for her EP 1991 on April 17th, and her album Broke with Expensive Taste as well. Her latest track produced by Diplo is dope:
Game's mixtape California Republic drops Thursday, but in the meantime here is Bills is Paid ft Nipsey Hu$$le, Grey Stone ft Fat Joe, Young Chris and It Must Be Tough ft Pharell. The latter of the three tracks doesn't live up to the hype unfortunately. I was hoping it was going to be a crazy street banger. The beat is nice, but it doesn't switch up at all, making it really repetitive. As I guessed the mixing is terrible, the vocals for the Skee tags are way too sharp and ended up killing my ears. Nipsey's vocals on Bills is Paid also need a little bit of compression as his volume goes up and and down throughout. Overall, all of the tracks are average and forgettable. With the strongest track almost being ruined by a poor mix. Although they'll probably grow on me as I dig the vibe of the tracks and they gel well together.
EDIT:Game ft - Lupe Fiasco: Skate On. Now this is what I'm talking about! Two of my favourite rappers on one track, and it doesn't disappoint. How was this not put on The R.E.D. Album? Hopefully we get some more dope leftovers.

There's a lot of E40 music that I can't stand but it's tracks like these that make me at least check out his material before making a decision. I'll always find 1 or 2 gems in there.
Just listened to that Game/Lupe track before coming in here. I only noticed 2 tracks from RED when I played through Martians vs Goblins and The City. That track should have been on there!

It's been a great weak for new music. New Kendrick, new Game mixtape coming today, and a new G.O.O.D. single amongst other things. We've been in a musical drought so far this year, and it looks like things are starting to pick up.
EDIT:Tracklist for Game's mixtape is here. All 24 tracks have features. Damn, that's a lot even by Game's standards. I noticed they spelled "Khaled" wrong and mixed up Trey Songz with Tre Beats as a producer. The mixtape includes album leftovers When My Niggas Come Home and Roll My Sh*t! Hopefully we get L.O.V.E, Dope and Dead People one day. The latter two being produced by Dr. Dre.

I must admit I was expecting more, but this track isn't bad. Those 80's sounding synths that come in are sick though. I'm going to wait for the Dirty CDQ to drop before I give a final impression though.
Game's mixtape California Republic finally dropped. I'm about to give it a listen, and I've heard a few of the tracks could have made The R.E.D. Album easily (seeing as most of the tracks are leftovers). I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Either way, there should be some dope joints on there.

Can't lie, I had Mercy on repeat for a stupid amount of time yesterday. I f*cking hate Big Sean but I can tolerate him on the track. Also where the f*ck did 2Chainz come from? He's featured on everything lately, I've seen so many tracks with him on recently and he isn't anything special, I don't get it?

Yeah, I got that Scarface vibe from it too, although it's not from the film. This is the track it samples (where the synths are from):
I was pleasantly surprised how good Game's new mixtape actually is, excluding a few duds the mixtape is solid throughout, and it is far more cohesive than The R.E.D. Album as a whole. Unfortunately Game has gotten into the habit of trying to sound like another artist (it was cool when he did it on Let Us Live and such, but now its getting embarrassing) on most tracks, even when the track lacks another rapper on it.
Besides that though, the mixtape is great, and I'm still playing it. Cats & Dogs (was the Detox reference track Touchdown that I posted a while ago) is amazing, although I felt the beat isn't as good as it could have been due to a muddy mix. That as well as Skate On, When My Niggas Come Home and Roll My sh*t (which is also amazing) should have made the album.

Lupe Fiasco just had a listening session with his record label for Food & Liquor II: Great American Rap Album Part 1, and they approved the album. According to Bishop G on Facebook (affiliate, friend, rapper) Food & Liquor II will be two separate albums/parts:

DOUBLE...WITH THE ONE HALF COMING...THEN THE OTHER A COUPLE MONTHS LATER.
He also said this about the album:
QUOTE
"SO YEAH...FOR THE RECORD, LUPE FIASCOS FOOD AND LIQUOR 2...IS THE BEST AND REALEST AND MOST IMPORTANT POTENT NEEDED AT THIS TIME MUSIK I EVER HEARD! IM PROUD TO SAY THAT HE IS THE BEST! CANT WIT FOR THE WORLD...WELL...**** THE WORLD REALLY...FOR YALL TO HEAR IT. ****...FOR MY GRANDMA TO HEAR IT. ITS TRULY GLORIOUS! OK...LEMME HOP OFF HIS BALLS RIGHT ABOUT..................NOW."
WHEN I SAY THEE BEST...AND HES THE BEST...I MEAN IT WITH NO EGO OR BIAS G. ITS LIKE A COMBINATION OF THEM ALL...WITH MORE SOUL ADDED ON. HE HAS CRACKED THE CODE."
The album is trending worldwide on Twitter right now, and I can't help but get caught up in the hyperbole. The wait is going to feel so long now.

Had Mercy on repeat for the past few days too. 2 Chainz (or Tity Boi) had a new album a few months back, swept the streets with it. Only a few tracks are worth listening to like Riot IMO.

I like what Jon Connor is doing with Eminem instrumentals atm for his 'The People's Rapper LP' project. They can't really be compared to the originals, and a lot of people moan when an artist sticks so closely to the flows of the first artist when borrowing a beat, but I reckon it works better as it shows he understands what he's working with and he doesn't completely embarrass himself. Yelawolf trying to freestyle over Yonkers is an example of a horrible use of a good tune, completely ignoring the instrumental and using his signiture flow over it.
Sure it's partly a cash in for more attention but thus far some of the familiar songs have leaked; Way I Am and Cleanin' Out My Closest, but i'm pretty surprised at his choices of Soldier and even more so at Hello. Hello stands out on Relapse so, good choice. There's got to be a Lose Yourself cover in there somewhere with a few other surprises.
The Peoples Rapper LP - April 13th. Be interesting to hear the rest of it tomorrow!
