I like how TLC's gone the nitpicky route, getting rid of the rear window wiper and motor is awesome. Well done, sir. I'd say the Royal Purple oil is overkill, but the tranny fluid isn't, and I'd look into higher end diff fluid if you're a car abuser. Like we all are.

My Mustang is a portly f*cker, weighs in at about 3500lbs. Fortunately, I have an overabundance of torque to compensate. And I def*cked most of the suspension so now that weight is moderately well supported. AutoXing on stock all weather tires with the new suspension settings has led to an hilarious lack of rear end grip.

Right now if I keep it below 3000 and don't get it on it I get about 18mpg. Stock I was getting 22-23. And no, I'm using ATI.

Partly the reason the project is on hold, combined with winter. I really want a cheapy AWD Talon turbo. Something expendable yet fun.

I have a 1992 Chevy Beretta GT (3.1L V6) and I get about 10 city, 19 highway. Horrible. I do floor it about 70% of the time, and when I'm on the highway I usually go about 70+mph. So that might be a reason why.

Still though, it should be getting around 20 at least. It's an old piece of sh*t, so I'm not too surprised.

Well, at the moment in my little fiesta I'm averaging 39mpg, so that seems pretty reasonable. My driving instructors diesel corsa is averaging 58, and he thrashes that on a weekend.

On the street racing news, kicked a TFSI audi in the Green Light drag race tounge.gif (Well, my brother did, albeit in his ST rental car sigh.gif )

Ah, yes but it's a 40 litre tank, which means it's about £45 to fill up, which is near enough $100 for a small city run around car. Slightly disturbing.

I have the 350z Tokyo Drift Veilside Widebody kit, vertical doors, and stillen sway bars on my porch. I got into the business of selling off 350z parts parted out by troubled Z owners, but god are they tempting to just slap on.

Bumping this little nugget of a thread.

So what's the "etiquette" to start a race on the streets? From a stop? While going down the high way?

I personally never wanted to try, as I don't have a fast car and they'd just laugh or feel like they wasted their time. Not that I care if they laugh, I'd be doing it just to see them take off.

But I wouldn't mind watching people kick my ass, it's always fun to hear and watch a car just take off. But I never know how to initiate the "race." At lights a simple rev-rev-rev can do, but on the high way, being auto, I can't just put it into neutral and rev up (besides, it's too quiet right now). Pulling up next to a car doesn't seem to work. Even if I mash the pedal shortly to get a surge out of the car. They never seem to bite.

Like tonight, a pretty highly tuned looking Miata was going down the highway and I pulled up next to him, jumping a bit to show I wanted to go, but he didn't bite. Sure he could have been thinking a lot of things like "no way I'd lose, it's probably a big ass V8" (and you all know that's wrong) or "hahah I'd smoke that muscle head" (which is probably right, the thing most likely was charged)... or he could have just not known that I didn't want to race him. I just can never tell. Is there some sort of secret "message" that says I wanna go, how about you? If so, I can't figure it out. That or no one wants to race me, whether they don't want to risk it/lose/kick my ass (which would be the case 99% of the time).

Down here we just start yelling incoherently on the PA system while revving the engine and laying on the dixie horn. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif Yeah..... whatsthat.gif This is usually in giant, lifted 3/4 and 1 ton pickups with diesel engines, stacks, and 35"+ tires. Funny part is, they're usually chipped so they're decently fast for 6000+ trucks with giant tires. And it's not really about winning, but more about blinding your opponent in a plume of diesel smoke. turn.gif
