Wouldn't it be cool if they made a remake of GTA: Advance? They could add the stats (stamina, muscle, fat, etc) from San Andreas, put in a couple of planes, add a few resturants and gyms, sprinkle with a few more ways to make money (betting, casinos, import-export garages, etc), dash with a few more cars, the list goes on. Any thoughts on this?

I was actually thinking about something like that also recently. What I had in mind was the GTA: Liberty City mod project. There are the beginnings of converting Liberty City Stories for that. However, putting GTA Advance to 3D would require huge amounts of work. There are no models for many things (I think only recurring major characters with models are Asuka and 8-Ball, and personally I think Asuka could do with a little touching up) and the cutscenes would have to be built from scratch except for dialogue and some backdrops.

It would be better to make it into a San Andreas mod (or a Vice City one), but as Crowley said we wont really know what is right and wrong in the game. Seeing as most things which we would be able to see if it was 3-D we dont know what they are supposed to look like. But it would be a good idea.

Actually that's what I meant: building a conversion on top of the GTA: Liberty City mod for Vice City. That would already give a moddable Liberty City environment. I haven't played GTA Advance myself, but looking at the maps it seems to be a reasonably faithful translation of the GTA3 Liberty City into 2D top-down format. Portland seems to have the most differences.

We could keep the top-down 2D view, because by adding planes, I mean that if you press 'down', the plane would get smaller (as if it was going down) and if you press 'up' it would get bigger (as if it was going up). This wouldn't really work with the short top-down view that GTA: Advance has got right now, so when you get into a plane (or helicopter for that matter), the camera goes up so you can see a few blocks instead of just a street.

And there wouldn't need to be any modding to the game, just adding things. wink.gif

Actually, Rockstar wouldn't need to keep the top down view! Has anyone played Need For Speed: Most Wanted on GameBoy Advance or Driv3r on GameBoy Advance? They both use absolutly fantastic 3D engines, and they don't have top down views. They both have more then acceptable framerates too. The Driv3r engine is more of better proof that this conversion would work, because there's lots of cars, pedestrians and guns involved in the GameBoy Advance version. But, yeah, it would work. icon14.gif

I saw the back of the box of Driv3r on GBA but I could not believe that it was an in-game screen cap, or that there could possibly be free-roaming. So Driv3r on the GBA has full 3-D free-roaming and pedestrians? That just sounds so impossible. And I thought GTA: Advance strained the cartridge space and system by pushing semi-3D ugly buildings.

Even though I normally use an emulator to play GameBoy Advance games, yes, I did buy Driv3r from EB for about $50 brand-new! The handling is really sh*t as when you want to turn the car, the car literally twists and moves in the general direction of the way you pressed. But other than the complete lack of ability to shoot pedestrians and have cops chase after you, it's quite a good game. (Although the cutscenes are alright, the missions can be frustrating, ugh, to describe the good and bad points of the game could take a while... Just play it and find out.)

P.S: Yeah, it is free-roaming.

Well, it's easier said than done. But I agree with Helegad, a remake would be cool. Would it be possible to mod the GBA cartridge/ROM?

i'v recently had ideas ok heres the remake i think of GTA advance 2:The Streets Of London it would be a game for xbox360 and ps3 they're would be much more things then SA and there would need to be a varity of characters like old gta protaganist's like Bubba or like claude and like it would be the early years when claude was with i forgot her name but like claude and (mrs.unknown) would have a vacation in london and start robbing like pubs and banks and they're would be CJ and he would have been with his mom when he'd be like 21 and like a crooked cop would drug his mom and like cj would have to do missions with all these like drug bosses, king pins and many more and like the new features would be well some arn't very new but these are them swimming, yahts, climb ladders, free aim,153 missions, stats, dateing and much more and that's all my thoughts oh and gta advance 2 would be for gba and ps3 and xbox 360 version would be GTA 5 well thats all cool.gif rampage_ani.gif

I would quite enjoy a GTA: Advance remake. Also, like with what Delerious said, it's easier said than done to mod the 3D GTAs. Would this game's concept work if you modded it into the top-down GTAs? Dunno... It might...

There is a total conversion in the modding forum currently trying to replace SA with Gta 1's Liberty city, San Andreas and Vice city along with GTA2's anywhere city. Its called GTA 1 and a half. But the mod currently is currently dying. So if you want the closest thing to GTA:Advance on a 3d engine that is your best bet

The mod couldn't be very accurate, as GTA was never very detailed. Sounds good though; I'll check it out.

after playing this game for once, a remake would be really cool, and as for cutscenes, why not just make i easy and use the same cutscene system as gtaa. just use artwork and text bubbles.

Yes, You clearly haven't been playing San Andreas hard enough (Not that it matters) Everything that you have described is basicly San Andreas!
