Cheers,
- adamcs | back when the x-box and pc version were announced, there were a bunch of ps2 fanboys running around saying its going to a sub-par port of a great ps2 game, because its meant to be on the ps2, well this is here to adress them:
Magazines you can actually make out. is that even possbible in a video game?

Note the actual reflection of CJ in the floor of the resturant? do ya? huh? and 82 frames per second and 1600x1200 resolution, is that even legal?

so for all of you who thought the pc version would be nothing special compared to the ps2 version, think again This post has been edited by Mark on Tuesday, Mar 22 2011, 12:22

For the (shameful) record, as I said in another post, I actually purchased a PS2 to play this game, but after days of frustration (couldn't get used to controller, couldn't make out anything on the mini-map, bad graphics, incredibly bad jaggies [i.e., no anti-aliasing], etc.), I finally give up and decided to wait for the PC version. Man, am I so glad I waited! I'm not knocking the PS2, and yes, generally speaking console ports are things to be avoided, but Rockstar always does right by us PC gamers. The only thing I don't like about this game is its music and its heavy emphasis on rap and such. (I just don't like rap music. Sorry. ) But that's OT and for another thread I guess.

| QUOTE (popa_jacks @ Jun 7 2005, 16:43) | Sorry to say this,
No sh*t sherlock, of course the graphics are better on pc, what did you expect? Apart from the graphics, is there any other major improvement over the PS2 version? (Apart from mods) | i guess i should start using my [/sarcasm] tags more often.
the main improvements: 1. graphics 2. modability 3. custom sound tracks 4. much better packaging. the pc version comes in a little hardcover book. very classy 5. customization of controls

| QUOTE (Gookie82 @ Jun 8 2005, 07:21) | Heh, I'm actually quite disappointed with the way the game looks...
Been playing Half Life 2 for the longest time now, and have been looking at videos/screenshots of Battlefield 2 for just about as long...
I was, well, less than impressed with the graphical detail of this game... But then again, looks like they're using the same engine... And I'd rather have more game content that looks a little crappy, than excellent graphics and one mission to complete...
peace. | Had you not looked at a screenshot of the game anytime... ever? It's been crystal clear from the first San Andreas screenshot that it wasn't that good looking.

| QUOTE (squishycube @ Jun 8 2005, 08:08) | Funny, just a few days ago I saw someone posting about 'whining people who where expecting graphics a la HL2 and the like'. Has it ever occured to you that the GTA map is insanly large and the engine has to process an immense number of things at the same time? And also, have you looked at the system requirements of GTA: SA and does of HL2?
Do you know why fighting games (DoA, Tekken) are the best looking games on the market? Because the engine's got freaking nothing else to do then render some guys doing some pre-programmed moves. It's got way much processor power left for graphics and backgrounds, even on the PS2 and Xbox.
I'd like to do a comparisson between what GTA does while running and what DoA does, but I'm too lazy. I think GTA looks damn good for it's specs and for what it's doing all the time. | I agree 100% If they made a game with the size and functionality of GTA:SA on the Steam engine of HL2, it won't be possible to play it for at least 3 years, when the CPU's and Gfx cards are powerful enough.
