just a quick question that I hope someone here can answer.

if i watch a streaming video on my computer am i paying for it?

the site im watching it from says all videos are free, but someone at work mentioned that I might be paying through my phoneline or something?

Unless the site you are streaming the videos from installs a dialer on your computer, then you're fine... if you have to dial a seperate internet connection just to stream the videos, that's when you should start to worry, if you're watching them through your normal internet connection then you are perfectly safe.

The only way you will pay for something like that is if your ISP Plan charges you for going over your download limit(if you have one) because streaming can eat up your downloads. Apart from that if your streaming off a website using your own ISP then there's no way of being charged.
