Unofficial Mods


Many people see the GTA:LC files and think of all the cool ways they could mod GTA III in VC's engine. Hey, we all want to have fun, right? Well just like with GTA III and GTA:VC, anybody with GTA:LC installed can mod their game to their liking however they want.

In the past, we have pushed aside all such talk because we only had the one thread to work with and that was our only way to get work done. But we want you to have fun and to be able to enjoy our work any way you like. So now you can have this thread to release your mods for GTA:LC, offer ideas, suggestions, and requests for such mods.

So what's the difference between an official mod and unofficial mod? For the most part, it's just going to be the difference between what's actually in GTA III and what isn't. If it's in GTA III, then it belongs in GTA:LC. If it's not in GTA III, then it could be an unofficial mod and belongs here.

If you have a mod that you'd like to release, or you need to update your mod, please contact MegaVovaN and he can host it for you.

  3. spaceeinstein's Northern Lights Mod does not work with the latest v6test package (it causes a crash). But, it should still work with v5b.

Well I think I have seen in the old topic, someone flying a Hunter towards the Miss Liberty mod, has there been a un-official download for this. If not can I request that this is converted and becomes made for download.
As Demarest said, the idea is to be a fun mod. I believe that this mod will help the mod become fun in it's own individual way.

Question for Mark about his police cars. Does your pre-9/11 car have the Vice City reflections in it? And if you don't mind, now that there's a spot to do it, could you upload that car, and your black vicechee replacement? I'd appreciate it.

Currently they don't have reflections thus I was awaiting Knux's/crazydude's release as they are very simple to do. I still have to edit the mirros though on the blue one as it was skinned improperly. I thought adding reflections would be simple just add the reflection to the txd and then flag it in zmod export the new dff with reflections and voila but I avent got any reflections.

Don't take my word on this, but I believe you have to assign the reflections map to the right textures in the Materials Editor.

I'll take this moment to suggest the obvious, Timetwister for GTA:LC.
Not mega important but it would be usefull biggrin.gif

Demerest probably has thought of and planned this already, although I know he mentioned somewhere that after porting GTA3 to Vice City he was planning to make Timetwister VC (which I would also like to add my name to the "demand list" of tounge.gif )

just as a sggestion i would like someone to convert the font.txd found in the kodels folder. to the original gta3's. i tried but it crashed so perhaps some1 else can?!

More information about this can be found here, the top link to Delfi's prog is dead, but a working link can be found lower down the page.

Results seem to be mixed I'm afraid, with the VC engine carrying on rendering screen text at a slant... but if anyone would like a shot at making the process work succesfully this will be moved into the official Textures thread. smile.gif

Something such as Timetwister is VERY time consuming, and its gona be a long time before the direct port gets finished, so i think youre gona be waiting a long time if thats what you want.

However, i might try when ive got the time, since i know enough VC code, and thats what GTA:LC needs, so everything in the main.scm has to be re-wrote.

Official car list being decided here. It's all but finished until something better comes along (IF).

Well I expected Dem to do it eventually, just thought I'd throw it in the air, and yeah, as I said, I expect it to be quite some time. (well after this thing is finished I am sure)

But good on you for even saying you will try to make it. From what I know about GTA codeing (which is nothing really, I have done codeing but none at all for GTA), this is a very time consuming difficult project.

Is there gonna be one site that we can go to download all files for gta:lc? I think you guys should start a site and give people about 2 downloads for free and everything after that you will need to signup for and the subscription fee would be $5 to cover the cost of the site.

We've come this far being a public mod and now we're going to start charging? notify.gif I think not. Read around before posting. I've gone through great lengths to make sure everybody's questions would be answered. If you read up, you'll see that all the updates are from multiple authors and therefore are avialable in multiple places. One thread and a site or 2 has been dedicated to direct traffic as it were. A beta is being developed and hosting for it is being discussed suicidal.gif
