Okay guys. I've all but decided yes on this, but thought I'd post/enquire just the same. Why the insanely short deadline, I'm not sure, but... | QUOTE (PM from PCGDJ to Demarest) | Hi, I'm an assistant editor for PC Gamer magazine. We'd like permission to distribute GTA:LC on our CD that will accompany an upcoming issue. Please get back to me asap, since I need an answer by this Thursday. Contact me by email at DJ@PCGamer.com. Thanks.
D.J. Stapleton, Assistant Editor, PC Gamer. |
Until it is released of course, we cannot be certain that this is not a hoax. However, this would be exposure beyond anything I've heard of for ANY GTA mod to date. This level of exposure would of course overrun us. Overrun with interest and/or talent to contribute as well as overrun with the usual "why don't you add this?" questions we've had to field 100 times. What do you guys think?

Other than that, go for it! Smithers.
EDIT: A better installer can be programmed if necessary, i never was completely happy with the one in this release.

I agree (send them best version, make sure they know it's still in development).
I doubt it's a hoax (unless it came from a hotmail email or something). I help out with a small online rpg in development and PC Gamer contacted us about a year ago and gave us a small article (with screenshot) in one of their issues. It reeled in a massive ammount of newcomers. They're also offering an article for another small game created by a friend of mine. They seem to be taking chances on free, fan-made games and mods and that's just plain awsome.
Smither's has a point. What does Rockstar think of this? I think I read about the legality of the mod a while back, but all I can remember is that they don't allow anyone to distribute modified executables. I know most people that own VC or 3 own the other as well, but couldn't they claim that this mod could reduce the sales of GTA3 for PC? (If everything gets finished, missions and all, to the point of where you could play a near replica of GTA3 using VC.) If there's already a topic over this, please point me to it.
