I really hope they include the option to revert back to the classic control system again. The first time I played IV, I was like "the f*ck? Right trigger to accelerate???" Then I was happy to find you could change the controls to the old way.
Do any of you actually use the f*cked up new system in IV?
On Topic, Yes. I got used to it, it turns out it's better for multiplayer in IV, because for better accuracy with Semi-automatic weapons, you had to tap R2.

I love the open-mindedness you showed there.
I too do not at all like the new system, I always use the classic control layout. I hope they allow it to be used in GTA V as well.
OT : I love the new system, admittedly i didnt like it at first, But for the new driving system that was introduced, its almost perfect! Pressing "X" or "A" is very cartoonish for me, and also the R2 button now has bigger signifigance, where as in past game, the button has been near anonymous.

I adapted to the "f*cked up new system" pretty quickly and it became my default preference. Going back to old GTAs and having to press X to accelerate, ugh. Feels so stupid and sh*tty.

I prefer the new controller system + u can shoot better when u chase somebody in a car and it's better for the mobile phone(for me).
Took the words right out of my mouth. These are the main reasons I adapted to the new control scheme and never looked back. III-era GTA console controls feel archaic to me, especially III and VC.
I can use both on any game but with the new physics and features I think that the new system is better for IV and who knows, maybe the old system will be better for V? I doubt it though as you have more control over the cars by using the new style R2 button or the right trigger. Also semi-auto or fully-auto weapons are easier to control with the new layout, same with pistols really as it felt a lot easier than reaching for the circle button which is hell if you have weird fingers like mine. Still, I enjoy the old system too on the older games... but I won't miss it if it goes.
I like the new layout because I prefer R2 and L2 for aiming and shooting, but I like the old way for driving. But I just leave it on Standard because I don't want to keep changing the layout.

All games these days should let us custom map the controller however we want. And we should be allowed to adjust dead-zones in the sticks as well (like Forza or GT5). The dead-zones are ridiculous in IV

You use the R2 and L2 buttons because that way the accelerate, brake, and reverse controls can be operated more realistically so you dont have to constantly take your fingers off and on the buttons to achieve a specific speed.

I remember switching to classic when I first played IV because I was like 'da fuq' but then realized the controls are pretty f*cked up in places as a result of them having to jumble things around, so I switched back to the default and have stuck with them since. It's really just a better layout.
