From Fox News: | QUOTE (Fox News) | ANAHEIM, Calif. – City officials voted unanimously Tuesday to ask the U.S. attorney's office to investigate recent police shootings, including one of an unarmed man over the weekend, that have sparked four days of protests and a fiery clash between residents and officers.
Police stepped up patrols and some donned riot gears as hundreds demonstrated outside City Hall while many more packed the council chamber inside to discuss the shootings that have stoked anger over a spike in police shootings in the city. On the street, protesters tossed rocks and bottles at police and ignored warnings to disperse, forcing officers to form skirmish lines and fire pepper balls at the crowd.
At least two people were arrested, police Sgt. Bob Dunn said. At one point, police shut down a gas station when protesters were seen filling cans with gas, Dunn said. |
The rest of the article is here: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/07/25/hundr...cials-call-for/I know this is a few days old, but I want you to know what you think of this. Cannot believe though that this was happening just a few miles from Disneyland!

| QUOTE (Moonshield @ Saturday, Jul 28 2012, 05:53) | | QUOTE (lil weasel @ Friday, Jul 27 2012, 13:10) | Shooting Women and Children? A case of blaming the victims, why are women and children attending a Shouting fest with a bottle and rock throwing party in the dark hours? |
Did you bother even reading the article or watching the videos? The shooting happened on Saturday during the afternoon in a suburb of Anaheim. Residents of the street came out of their houses with questions about the events and to see what was going on, and things escalated from there. Most of these people were bystanders that happened to get pelted by "non lethal" rounds at close range, and not the actual rock throwers - that sh*t is unsavory. |
How hard is it to stay indoors and not get involved? I don't understand the mentality of protesting against a police shooting by assaulting police officers? Why throw rocks and bottles at government officials who are obviously armed and are prepared to use force to quell the violence? I wouldn't trust anything in that news article - especially as it is a Fox news report. Obviously when the media comes out with splashy headlines such as 'police shoot un-armed man' there is going to be resistance. I don't think these people even know what they are protesting against, it's just an excuse to get violent and assault the police in large groups. Cheers! The reason people riot is because they feel oppressed, the reason people gather during riots is so that the police are outnumbered. There are many efforts to educate the rioters as to what they should do to defend themselves against police, but when you have hundreds of others around you screaming about how corrupt the system is it's hard to stay calm and not act on violent urges. | QUOTE | | I wouldn't trust anything in that news article - especially as it is a Fox news report. The day FOX news is biased against police is the day a monkey crawls out of my ass. Also you could look for other sources.| QUOTE | | I don't think these people even know what they are protesting against, it's just an excuse to get violent and assault the police in large groups. |
You're right, most protesters are idiots who just want an excuse to throw sh*t, burn things, and yell stupid slogans at the top of their lungs, but there are reasons to protest, and there were probably at least a few people who were there for a reason they thought was truly noble.
