Wow this is really good! I would like to see the armor physically ON you, but also have a "health" bar for it. IMO GTA 4 and San Andreas had the best hud's, perhaps 4 is in more favor for being more compact and such

Perhaps you and the general population of a third world country like Belgium aren't aware of what civilized people consider modern, I guess that I just don't know.

I also don't know if you think that your HUD is modern, light and slimmed down, but I certainly don't.  I think that the HUD has to be transparent so that they eyes aren't naturally drawn to it all the time.  Also, your radar could be considered confusing as there is no indication as to which way Niko is facing.

Did you honestly expect a positive reception to this nonsense?  A round of applause, maybe?

lol, buster

1. my HUD is modern, light and slimmed down compared to that of GTA IV.

No its f*cking not.

Don't like it the least bit. It detracts from the "cinematic" nature of GTA.

"Cinematic" that's got me thinking what if there was a way to display health without a conventional hud kind of like dead space? That would probably be going too far plus I can't really think of any ways that could work.

you must be insecure about your age

and aparently youre the one incapable here

cuz a few pages back i elaborated with long ass post
for constructive criticism

EDIT : oh and more and more people are telling you how trash it is
and not faithful to GTA

but you tell them they're wrong

People do have criticism and a different opinion than yours

no offence but the hud looks god aweful it looks like it would be so distracting and the nonexistance of an arrow just adds to the horror. showing
the weapon while maybe good in theory turns out horrible and it just distracts you. while the speed of the car sounds cool it would not work out well
where you placed it.

Yeah, it's ugly. I would prefer IV's style one with 2 additional half-circles around the radar, for stamina and weapon/car skill based on what weapon you are holding while on-foot or what type of vehicle you are in.

I'm not going to comment on visual worthiness of the HUD display.

But doesn't anybody understand you cannot show speed in this game? Minutes pass in a few seconds, so sixty MPH in real life would be like 8 MPH in game. Then if the map is 10 miles long and it takes you 3 real life minutes what does that mean, that it took you 2 in game hours to drive 10 in game miles?

Hey guys! I saw this thread and thought I'd share my HUD "ideas".
I believe the HUD in GTA4 is pretty sweet, so I just added a few tweaks to show ways R* could incorporate a speed-o-meter.
Here's my first idea:

But then I thought, some people might want a way to indicate their speed (I also included a green arrow to indicate a gear shift, just in case GTAV gets manual trans.).
So I made this:

But I also designed another style (there's a triangle in it to indicate RPM but it might be hard to see):

This one is more comparable to speed-o-meters we see on cars now a days.

Here's that design, but with the actual speed shown:

Here's that design but with indication that it is safe to shift (green text):

So those are my ideas, what do you guys think?
Also, this is my first post on gtaforums! (I am a long time reader though).
It's also 4AM where I live and I haven't slept so sorry if this post seems choppy.

@4KDesigns

Very nice, I would say the 3rd one is perfect you get the general idea of how fast your going without numbers cluttering the screen.

I could actually see R* implementing something like that.

Also welcome to the forum icon14.gif

I like as little as possible on the screen as it was in IV, so I'm not too keen on the thing next to the map or the speed, which is unnecessary.
