Ah, f*ck it. I'll just repost what I always put in threads like this...

Here's my reasons why I think Ned Luke/Balcony Guy is the main character:

1. He's the only one in the trailer that has a close up, just like Niko did in the IV trailer

2. The narrator sounds like Ned Luke, and the balcony guy strongly resembles Ned Luke

3. Niko narrated the IV trailer, which makes me think Ned Luke/Balcony Guy narrated the V one

4. Both Niko and Ned Luke/Balcony Guy gets a close up at around the same time in both trailers. Hint from R* perhaps?

All just logical speculation of course! icon14.gif

But, in regards to the narrator:

I think the protag will only be the white guy on the balcony in the trailer. Those other characters we see in the trailer could just be AI we work alongside of. Maybe Rockstar will do it the way they did GTA IV, one main protag. with the DLC's adding different viewpoints on the story.

@RandomNoun: True, my only explanation for that is that this is GTA V, not RDR. And that the narration in the V trailer seems like a monologue from the protagonist.

Yeah, but they're both talking in the past tense about arriving at a place.

I know I could be wrong, and I hope I am. But I can't accept something until it's confirmed--or unless all other possibilities have been diminished.

Me either. It really sucks trying to start a healthy debate when nothing is neither confirmed or denied. It's like taking shots in the dark...

I think that the only safe thing we can say is that the voice fits with the balcony guy.

So we have to go from there. Most other characters in the trailer looked undeveloped. So even if he is not the protagonist, he is a major character. That puts him in a good position to be the protagonist.

Plus he appears in several scenes and is seen driving more than once.

But another thing to consider is that he is the one kicking the door down in the robbery scene. How many times in GTA IV were you the one leading a group (rather than being a subordinate)?

@RandomNoun: I can agree with that. He's also the only one to get a close-up, so he's important to the story regardless if he's the protagonist or not.

And that's true about never really being the leader in IV. Perhaps R*'s "bold new direction" includes the protagonist being a boss character himself? Could be possible.

What you said make sense icon14.gif
And the part about the protagonist kicking the door, bold new direction? Maybe he aint like most previous protagonists and doesnt get bossed around, i wouldnt expect him to either since he is a retired criminal instead of a young guy rising through the ranks.

I would seem like a crazy old man repeating what he said but, that voice does not fit a white male. I can see someone Hispanic with that voice. Go listen to it again, see how he pronounces the words. Don’t people have ears anymore? tounge.gif

And if you are the boss, would it even be GTA? You only ever really knew what you were doing in past GTAs because you were always working for someone else . . .

The difference between both trailers is multiple characters are heard including John in the RDR trailer while a single character talks in the V trailer much like IV's trailer.

I still find it baffling that some are still so uncertain that were playing as the older man. Niko walked down a bridge and talked for a second and everyone instantly knew he was the protagonist while Ned Luke's character talks for a while, is seen staring from a balcony, speeding with two separate cars and to top it off robbing a jewellery store and people become uncertain because he has grey hair.

Niko was the only character in the GTA IV trailer.

True but Ned Luke is the only guy that narrates and is seen in action during the trailer. If we heard the guy in the red cars voice and the guy running from the cops aswell I would have been less certain The older man was our guy.

@CSM. HB J-DOGG Haha fair enough I would say just wait and see how the character plays out, R* rarely disappoints with the main characters I'm sure he will grow on the people that don't like him.

Yeah I understand but It has to do with story line I wouldnt mind working my way up through the gang and into big business if they depict real gang life and not the bs that they put on t.v as far as organization structure. Thats why I hope they go the 3protag route that way every one can get a lil of what they want

possible 3 protags
Rich guy- The white guy narrating, ex criminal gets draged back into the criminal life to pull of one last job
Poor guy- the black guy running at the end, lives in the ghetto and robs people to survive, recruited by the older for the heist that could make him rich.
Living in the middle- The hispanic guy in the red car who is friends with the older guy, not rich but not poor, he is a very good driver and joins the heist team as the getaway driver.
(i doubt it would be multiple protag but even if it is they still are gonna focus on one of the characters most and i think it will be ned luke and use him to connect all the character)
