Hey!

As you can see I am new here and have a few questions about adding and using modded maps.

Currently, I have modded cars using Spark IV, but I would ike to add an extra map.

I really like the looks of this one:

It says that it will replace the area between Bronx and the Airport, I am guessing that it will be somewhere in the ocean?

I would not like the map to affect normal gameplay.

It will not replace anything right?

If it ends up replacing something, is it easy to remove if I backup the files first?

Ok, now how do I go about installing this map?

I have learned how to mod cars using Spark IV, can I add maps using Spark IV too?

If not, what is the most used and easiest way to add maps?

the map's zip file contains an image that shows you what places it fills.
you'll see perfectly that it doesnt replace anything, it only adds the map near the other ones.
just put the files where it tells you and add the lines in gta.dat and images.txt
gta.dat for ide and wpl files and images.txt for img files.

You see I am having a problem where I cant just open files and place things in places unless I am using Spark IV:

you dont need any program to add downloaded maps.
but if you make custom maps you need open iv and 3dsmax 2010 or higher.

I followed the directions in the read me and watched a few videos on adding maps but the game keeps crashing.

When the game starts and the title "The Ballad of Gay Tony" appears and the music plays the game suddenly quits.

Help me please!!!!!

maybe you forgot about adding the ide and wpl lines in gta.dat and the img line in images.txt

if is not the one above correct:
what map is it man?
one time i downloaded a huge map that the img contained only one model(the whole map in one model)
and that cause crash because of the excessive polygon rendering.
so, if your map dont have LOD's and it has big objects (not big map, you can make the map as big as you want, in the limits of 6000x6000 units)
i mean big objects(with a lot of polygons)
this cause crash always, so you should search for a map that dont have too big objects or you can make a map by yourself, it's very easy, i learned in 3-4 months (i made my first map)
you should learn. icon14.gif

needed files to learn about: ide,wpl,stream.wpl(inside img, only if you use LOD's),img,and the 3d models of course(wdr,wdd,wft(fragtype)and collisions(wbn(static)wbd(dictionary with entries,usually used with trees and all kind of props),(3dsmax+gimsiv+openiv) and finally, add the lines in gta.dat and images.txt(gta.dat for ide and wpl,written in italics(only outside the imgs) and images.txt for imgs archives(written without italics
