Which rendition of Vice City is the best?

I will go with VCS.

Even 2002 rendition was great with the story and soundtrack, VCS will always be perfect with the graphics.

Difficult choice, East Island is better in the original Vice City whilst West Island is better on VCS.

I'm guessing the new version (hopefully GTA VI) will be better than GTA III-era VC.

It would have to be the 2002 Vice City, it was just perfect, they all had there own little things that made them great, but for some reason I just liked 2002 the best.

Although VCS added more colour and vibrance the lack of an enterable Malibu Club is inexcusable and the city looks tacky with all those ugly empire buildings packed in.

I really hate when people make polls where you can vote for something that we know nothing about.

The GTA Vice City rendition was the best, followed by GTA Vice City Stories in my opinion.

As Miamivicecity stated, the empire buildings being dotted all over the city and the presence of less enterable buildings in GTA Vice City Stories gives the impression that it is a city that is still under construction. As a result, it just doesn't have the overall charm and atmosphere that the rendition in GTA Vice City has (though the storyline of GTA Vice City Stories is somewhat darker than that of GTA Vice City).

Although they were pretty much the same city, it felt different in both Vice City and Vice City Stories. I didn't like how in Vice City Stories so many buildings were different (not very realistic considering it was only 2 years before) and the grass was way too green. On a positive note, it did appear to have more neon effects at night.

And I can't imagine anyone picking the GTA 1 version unless they're just screwing around.

Even though I enjoyed VCS, Vice City (2002) was clearly better for me. Vice city just didn't feel like Vice city with all those incomplete buildings, empires etc.

Agreed. 1986's Vice city looked way better than 1984 one just didn't feel right with these empire buildings though I liked that feature. But on other hand VCS was more colorful which looked great, but I still prefer original VC. cool.gif

It's because the empire sites took the locations of some Vanilla VC locations that everybody knew, that's probably why you think it "lacked"

to explain the "interior" situation:

VCS had like 100 interiors ingame, while VC had only like 10. So they had to balance this. If they gave you Malibu, Ocean Hotel, Mitch Baker's bar etc. in VCS, VCS would become an ultimate rendition of the city, so no one would ever go back to the 2002 game.

Quality > Quantity

I didn't need multiples of the same interior. Empire building was cool, but the interiors were bland and repetitive. Vice City's interiors were more diverse.

But Malibu club was iconic, I understand that they had to make it different and they really did, but lack of Malibu club in VCS dissapointed me. sad.gif

In VCS - it was just blocked off - the building was still there.
