| QUOTE (Leve-O @ Tuesday, Nov 22 2011, 18:57) | | QUOTE (Mafioso86 @ Tuesday, Nov 22 2011, 07:43) | | i like the idea under the condition that at the start of the game you have a few choices of protagonists and you pick one and play through the game with him/her. The idea of switching throughout the game sounds like it would take away from the immersion of playing as a specific person in the world. This idea also adds replay as you could go through a second and third time as the other protagonist and experience small differences. |
This is the only way I see it working. They did it in the very first GTA, but I'm pretty sure no matter who you chose the game was the same.
I'm still going with the idea of playing as different characters in DLCs just like EFLC. | Yes i would like to see other characters in the DLC like EFLC, and i think that is the path R* will go again, that was really enjoyable, and added extra depth to the story, it made it really interesting. In the Main story i would only like to see one character.

| QUOTE (Jeeebuuus @ Tuesday, Nov 22 2011, 06:46) | | First, what is with the black boxes, how do they work? Second, the idea of multiple protags. could work but I prefer a story from beginning to end with you identifying with a main character, like in a movie. GTA seems to be about recreating a movie and putting you as the main character. | So you haven't seen Pulp Fiction bro? i like the sound of multiple characters and reckon it would be a pretty awesome way of telling a story. Different people, different viewpoints - how would you feel if, for example, you play a portion of the story as one character - only to play a different character in the next chapter and you end up killing the original protaganist you were playing to begin with?!?! i think multiple protaganist's have potential to be honest

I have seen Pulp Fiction. Great movie and that is a good example of why I said it could work. I would just prefer something where you could focus your attention on one guy. And still can someone explain the black boxes?

| QUOTE (Carmelo @ Tuesday, Nov 22 2011, 21:32) | Its pretty much common sense that there's going to be multiple protags in V wether you like it or not.
The trailer tells you this, multiple shots of the old guy, multiple shots of the hispanic guy, couple of shots of the homeless guy. I'd put my house on there being multiple main characters. |
That doesn't really prove anything. They could be NPCs who have important roles in the story. Anyway I really haven't warmed up to it. Even selecting a protagonist at the beginning seems I don't know a bit "corny"?. I know GTA 1 had it, but that was long before the cinematic plots R* have been known for as of late. I thought it was cool how the stories of GTA IV, TLAD and TBOGT intersected, but it worked better as 3 separate games IMO. GTA V + EFLC like DLC would be fine again. I just think it would be a bit much for one game.. Spoilers regarding LA Noire... It annoyed me playing as Jack right at the end and playing as him in the final case. Watching Cole die was like watching a NPC die. A lot of people felt the same and a sense of connection was lost. Imagine playing as Niko in GTA IV and say 25 missions in he gets killed and we switch to another protagonist? The only game I've really liked having multiple protagonists (Actually 4) is Heavy Rain. It suited the style although vastly different to a GTA game of course. I think that this multiple protagonist rumor could be based on GTA V and episodic content like GTA IV. Not necessarily mulitple protagonists throughout the core game. This post has been edited by Miamivicecity on Tuesday, Nov 22 2011, 10:51
