Here is a PC my friend got a good deal on. Is this one good?
http://www.compusa.com/applications/Search...d_2372_B69-0567

I'm looking into updating my PC. My current PC runs GTA at High settings. Not maxed out though. It lags here and there, just because the game is a sh*tty port. It doesn't bother me too much though, exept for once in a while I get kicked out of MP games. But even though its a sh*tty port, I'm looking for a PC that will be able to max GTA IV and run at steady FPS. (30 FPS steady is ok, but I would prefer 60 FPS steady) I'm hoping a faster PC will make the bad port not show through. My PC is starting to become a little outdated VS current gaming PC's, but its still very High end VS a regular PC.

Monitor res is 1920x1080

Not only the specs I posted above but I have some other options too. A different CPU I'm thinking about is an i7 CPU. (Above 2.4 GHz which is what I got now, and 4 or more cores) I would like a higher end Nvidia Graphics card than what I god (460 GTX)

Last thing that would be really nice to have is a script mod to disable the getting kicked out for lagging. (I don't even lag much, and it still kicks me out sometimes.)

But what do you guys recommend I do to get the best experience possible with GTA IV, and even other games?

An i7 is much better than the FX 8120.

What is your budget?

I'm honestly not sure. I don't want to spend $1000. At most I'd say $500. However my Budget may vary.

$500 is not enough for i5, let alone i7. (i7 is not any faster in games than i5 anyway)

$124,99 Intel Core i3-2120 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115077

$139,99 PowerColor AX6850 1GBD5-DH Radeon HD 6850
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814131374

$66,99 ASRock H61M/U3S3 LGA 1155 Intel H61
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813157236

$74,99 Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136769

$22,99 CORSAIR XMS 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820233132

$49,99 Antec NEO ECO 400C 400W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817371029

$17,99 ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827135204

$45,99 COOLER MASTER Elite 330 Upgraded RC-330U-KKN1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119243

= $543,92

Dual core CPU with Hyper Threading, fast graphics card (as fast as GTX460), decent motherboard, 500GB HDD, 4GBs of RAM, good power supply, DVD burner and a case with good airflow.

Just curious, What do you mean $500 is not enough for an I5, as the most expensive I5 here is $239.99, which is less than $500? Which means by cutting down on some of the other parts-ie. going with a little less Ram, a little cheaper Video card, cheaper PSU and then re-using his current computer case, Disc drive, and mother board and monitor *should* help keep costs down A LOT...There are ways to fit a better processor into a budget, you just have to be willing to make cuts elsewhere.. confused.gif

Cause, in my opinion, it does not make sense to buy a new disc drive, monitor, and computer case if the one you have is working fine-goes back to the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"...Just curious/my two cents. tounge2.gif confused.gif

But price difference between i3 and i5 is so vast that I'd have to cut down costs by a whole lot, which means I'd have to put a much slower GPU... which will result in the PC being unbalanced, thus slower. It's better to have an i3 + good GPU, than i5 and weak GPU.

@Yojo, Thanks for clearing that up. smile.gif

Just curious though, What's the difference(performance wise) between the I3 and I5? Besides both being Dual Cores with Hyper threading technology? confused.gif

For once I agree with radioman, OT should state which parts he wants upgraded, it's always better to save money on properly working equipment (as long as it's properly working).

OT, what's your current exact system specification?

Got it from DxDiag. Just incase I don't remember the exact name. I didn't put it all in because it would clutter up the topic.

Now, you guys may be wondering about the 32 Bit Operating System. I have two hard drives in my PC. One has Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, and the other has Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. Reasoning, is some programs run better on one and some run better on the other. I plan to have this same OS set up for the other. I also notice that IV's performance on the 32 bit seems to be a little better than the 64 bit, however I mainly use 32 bit, so the graphics drivers are up to date on the 32 bit. This isn't the full file. If I'm missing something, or you guys know of a better way to get the required info, let me know.

Edit: I could also paste a GTA IV bench mark here.

Yes, please post a benchmark.

I say the CPU and the RAM need upgrade.

RAM could do. CPU definitely needs upgrading, GPU is okay.
@nkjellman: what motherboard and power supply do you have?

Not all of them are. i5-2390T, i5-3470T, and every i5-6XX are dual core CPUs with HT.

I would honestly say the one he has posted is fine but you would need a good video card to go with it.
