Supposed "leaks" are posted multiple times a day every day in the V forum. GTAF goes down on a day when a "leak" was posted. 96.3% of V forum regulars assumes there's a connection there and that the site was shut down because of a leak. There are multiple reasons why this is bullsh*t. 1. Rockstar doesn't run the site. Fans do. 2. The staff doesn't know any more than members do, so they would have no idea whether a "leak" was real or not. 3. The staff have no reason to hide leaks. They, again, do not work for Rockstar. 4. If the site was shut down for one leak, but all the others were just deleted or locked, that would show that the last leak was real, defeating the entire point of shutting down the site in the first place. 5. The staff has no reason to shut down the site instead of just deleting a "leak" and that's even assuming they wanted to hide it. 6. The site was down due to server problems. This is common occurrence for GTANET, though it has gotten much better. I hate how paranoid every is about GTA V leaks and clues. I don't remember any one being this paranoid about IV, and I don't remember ANY paranoia before SA's release.

I blame the ever increasing access of the Internet to a wider population, especially to the young people. Young people have too much time in their hands and this specific group can't find better use of it other than spam the Internet with rumors, speculations, and wishlists. With today's cheaper and more mobile computers with easy access to the Internet, you get a mob mentality that infects even legitimate avenues of information. It doesn't just affect GTA, it affects any popular media. I'm afraid this kind of mob behavior can bite R* and hurt their sales. Good to see we're back up and running though.
