Is there any ideas how to use the file recovery stuff on just a single folder instead of the whole HD as I wanted to avoid recovering the unwanted sh*t on the files? Suggestions are welcome though

There are a good number of file recovery programs that will let you dig down to the folder you want to undelete files from.

Keep in mind that if the are on the HDD itself is over written with other data then you'll need more professional software, or work for the NSA or DOD, to get files back.

The recovery program should ask where you want to store the recovered files which you can pick to be anywhere.
