Ever since Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar has given the fans so far sad, worth crying for endings. Starting with either the Death of Roman or Kate in GTA IV, two close people to protagonist Niko Bellic, then to John Marston being betrayed by the government and getting killed in the end of Red Dead Redemption, or last when Cole Phelps risking his life to save Elsa and Kelso, only to die from a torrent of violent water in the river tunnels in a heroic manner.
Recently with Max Payne 3 though, Max gets a happy ending after all the rough moments in his life. Could this be a chance for Rockstar to give GTA V a happy ending making it two in a row?
Even if it was announced that GTA V will have multiple endings like in IV, do you think there will be more Good outcomes or Bad outcomes depending on your actions?

I kind of want a bitter sweet ending.
I don't want one of the protagonists to die...but I don't want everything to be sunsets and lollipops either.
Figure by the end you've probably lost a few friends, been betrayed once or twice, Michael is either divorced or just barely managed to scavenge his marriage, Trevor will have to come to terms with how jacked up his life has been, and Franklin will have made his choice in regard to staying with his old friends or his new ones.
I don't see Lamar getting along well with Michael and Trevor

f*ckin spoilers I was gonna play Max Payne this summer.
But anyway, I hope we have multiple endings, like 1 or two bad ones, 3 ok ones, and 1 g(of one.
Besides the dude saying it has a happy ending, Max Payne 3 is great game. It does get repetitive, but I loved the cinematic type storyline. So, if you get a chance to play it definitely do. It's worth it.
The OP is exactly why I didn't Finish RDR, because It was spoiled 5000 times before I even got close.
For f*cks sake dude, add some god damn spoilers next time, please! Fortunately I stopped reading. Anyway, completely ignoring past history of the games, I believe this one will have a mixed ending, perhaps one person will end up in prison, one person dies and one lives the good life.
Or perhaps they all seemingly disappear/die, then in the final scene you see them all meet up at a restaurant in Paris, they don't talk to each other, just simply acknowledge that they are all alive. Kinda like in that movie where they say they are going to live a quiet life, and please don't post what the movie is, If you've seen it, it's recent, then you'll know what i'm talking about.

These are the situations I would like to see each character in by the end:
Michael- sh*t ending, someone in his family dies Trevor- mixed ending, in the same position he was in at the start Franklin- good ending, living the high life and not having to worry about all the sh*t going on in the hood
way to ruin the endings of all those games for me.
as for GTA V ending, i doubt any of the 3 protagonists will die because gameplay after story wouldnt be the same. maybe lamaar or some of michaels family will die, but i think in the end it will be a positive ending.

I'm sorry people but the fact that his topic says "evidence from past games" doesn't take much intelligence to think that there may be spoilers from PAST games. And it's been quite a few years for f*ck sakes how are most of us to know you haven't played those games.

Honestly I hope they do. I just don't want them to kill off a protagonist. I feel these sad ending are more like real endings.
I mean tell me this is a good ending: If you did then you're just lying to yourself. Don't look below if you haven't beat GTA IV.
I can see a good ending here, with them celebrating and enjoying life after the final heist.
Hopefully Michael is divorced by the end of the game, I really believe that's how it's going to be as it would be original and would only make sense seeing how his marriage is, and running around, doing heists isn't going to help it. We still know little about the other protags to guess what their story will be.
And to those bitching about spoilers: 1. It's been years since those games were released. 2. What difference does it make? I played Skyrim after watching the whole walktrough on youtube, because my PC at the time couldn't handle it. Then I got a good PC and enjoyed every moment of it even when I knew what's gonna happen in the story next.
I think it was mentioned in first big Gameinformers preview that game will have multiple endings based on decisions you make through game, similiar like GTA IV though it will really influence it.

"Past games" could refer to any past game what so ever. That is really no excuse.

If there are multiple endings, I can see Franklin dying due to a mistake made by Michael, leaving him with the guilt of causing the death of 'the son he always wanted'. Because there are 3 protags it makes it possible for rockstar to kill one off if they want to. We will end up being pretty emotionally attached to the characters so an ending like this would have the most impact on the player. If done properly, the death of a main character is one of the most powerful ways to end a piece of narrative fiction.
For example... especially considering GTA V is based on Heat. It has an incredibly powerful and melancholic ending scene where Neil, DeNiros character, is killed by Lt. Hanna (Pacino) when we think he's going to escape his criminal life. All with an incredible, epic soundtrack from Moby.
Guys, it's already confirmed that there will be multiple endings. The ending will depend on what choises will you make through the storyline. You can see it in the list of features on www.gtav.net. Here is the link for the page: http://www.gtav.net/info/
