Throughout the film we see two rivals gangs one from Amsterdam and another from London, they both are after the same drugs, people get killed... people get beat up and of course... sex

Casino: This Martin Scorsese film depicts the Janus-like quality of Las Vegas--it has a glittering, glamorous face, as well as a brutal, cruel one. Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970's and '80's are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough strongman, robbing and shaking down the locals. However, they each have a tragic flaw--Ace falls in love with a hustler, Ginger, and Nicky falls into an ever-deepening spiral of drugs and violence.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels: 1998 British crime film. The story is a heist film involving a self-confident young card sharp who loses £500,000 to a powerful crime lord in a rigged game of three card brag. In order to pay off his debts, he and his friends decide to rob a small-time gang who happen to be operating out of the flat next door.

The Transporter: Jason Statham as Frank Martin, a driver for hire – a mercenary "transporter" who will deliver anything, anywhere – no questions asked – for the right price.

Snatch: Set in the London criminal underworld, the film contains two intertwined plots: one dealing with the search for a stolen diamond, the other with a small-time boxing promoter named Turkish (Jason Statham) who finds himself under the thumb of a ruthless gangster known as Brick Top (Alan Ford).

RocknRolla: Lenny Cole, a London mob boss, puts the bite on all local real estate transactions. For substantial fees, he's helping Uri Omovich, a Russian developer. As a sign of good faith, Omovich loans Cole a valuable painting, promptly stolen off Cole's wall. While Cole's men, led by the dependable Archie, look for the canvas, three local petty criminals, the Wild Bunch, steal money from the Russian using inside information from his accountant, the lovely Stella. Meanwhile, a local drug-addled rocker, Johnny Quid, is reported drowned, and his connection to Cole is the key to unraveling the deceits and double crosses of life in the underworld.

Cocaine Cowboys: It's about the major players in the cocaine smuggling industry that brought an economy to Miami in the late 70's, 80's. It starts off with details about the Dade-Land massacre. Guys in a van roll up at a mall and blast away this liquor store. The cops get there and search the van has like an army of loaded weapons. Dead people everywhere.

They talk to this Colombian dude who was a hit man for some crazy ass woman. Anyways, he came from nothing, got a small job here and there, led up to being one of the toughest guys in Miami (the perfect GTA story). This guy is so intense, you have to watch it for yourself.

Fight Club: A ticking-time-bomb insomniac and a slippery soap salesman channel primal male aggression into a shocking new form of therapy. Their concept catches on, with underground "fight clubs" forming in every town, until an eccentric gets in the way and ignites an out-of-control spiral toward oblivion.

Point Break: Young FBI agent Johnny Utah (Reeves) goes undercover at the suggestion of his partner (Gary Busey) to learn if a group of wild surfers is actually a gang of bank robbers. He soon comes under the dangerous spell of the surfers' charismatic leader, Bodhi (Swyaze), a mystical mastermind who'll do absolutely anything for a thrill - and expects his followers to do the same.

Rumble Fish: A tale of alienated youth centers on gang leader Rusty James (Matt Dillon) and his band of punk pals. Rusty's got a girlfriend (Diane Lane), an older brother named Motorcycle Boy (Mickey Rourke), and a drunken father (Dennis Hopper) who've all given up trying to straighten him out. He's best at making trouble, and he pursues that skill with an enthusiastic flair that eventually catches up with him.

Heat: focuses on the lives of two men on opposite sides of the law - one a detective; the other a thief.

Children of Men: has some pretty cool action sequences

lord of war: arms dealer guy

the fast and the furious movies: racing and stuff

Bad Boys 1/2: Name says it all

Elephant: which dealt with 'the troubles' in Northern Ireland and featured a series of shootings with no narrative and hardly any dialogue; all were based on accounts of actual sectarian killings that had taken place in Belfast. The film took its title from Bernard MacLaverty's description of the troubles as "the elephant in our living room" - a reference to the collective denial of the underlying social problems of Northern Ireland.

Goodfellas: Henry Hill and his friends work their way up through the mob hierarchy.

Gotti: John Gotti, the head of a small New York mafia crew breaks a few of the old family rules. He rises to become the head of the Gambino family and the most well-known mafia boss in America. He is known as the Dapper Don for his expensive taste in suits, and the Teflon Don because none of the FBI charges against him will stick. Life is good, but suspicion creeps in, and greed, rule-breaking and his high public profile all threaten to topple him.

Donnie Brasco: is a 1997 crime drama film directed by Mike Newell, starring Al Pacino, Johnny Depp and Michael Madsen. It is loosely based on the real-life events of Joseph D. Pistone, an FBI agent who infiltrated the Bonanno crime family, one of the Mafia's Five Families based in New York City during the 1970s, under the alias "Donnie Brasco". The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The Godfather: You should know the backdrop if not Google it

The Sopranos: is an American television drama series created by David Chase that revolves around the New Jersey-based Italian-American mobster Tony Soprano and the difficulties he faces as he tries to balance the often conflicting requirements of his home life and the criminal organization he heads. The series also features Tony's family members and Mafia associates in prominent roles and storylines, most notably his wife Carmela and cousin and protégé Christopher Moltisanti. The many conflicts in his life lead to an on-off professional relationship with psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Melfi.

Taxi Driver: The film is set in New York City, soon after the Vietnam War

Eastern promises: a russian mob story set in London, dealing with sex/human trafficking(and other criminal activity.), betrayal, and some romance.(if you can call it that.)

A History of violence: a man kills 2 would be robbers of his diner, gaining him notoriety which then sets into motion a series of events that unravels who this guy was to his family, and concludes with the settling of old scores that sent this man into hiding in the 1st place. (Irish mob story set in Philly in gta 5 anyone?)

State Property: an ambitious young drug dealer rises and takes over most of the local Philly drug market, until running into a potentially more powerful drug lord leads to war.

The wire(entire series): A show that details the criminals, cops, and political infrastructure in Baltimore, Maryland.aka Bodymore Murdaland.

Rampage: Bill Williamson, a man determined to exact revenge upon the fictional town of Tenderville, Oregon, builds a full-body suit of Kevlar armor, complete with a ballistic helmet and a paintball mask. He then goes on a killing spree. He is 23 years old, lives with his parents and he works a low-paid job as a mechanic. Psychologically, he is continually bombarded with the problems of the world, by ubiquitous TV sets, radios, and the views of Evan Drince, who seems to be his sole friend. One day, hurt, after his parents tell him that it's time he left home, and tired of being victimized by his boss at work, Bill acts upon his plan to reduce the town's population. He believes overcrowding causes the world's problems.

American History X: is about 2 skinhead brothers which in small town are assaulting other races . When after 2 black man killing oldest brother gets in the jail his cell mate is a black person and other plot twisters in film he starts looking at life better.

After he gets out of jail he trys to get away from neo-nazi gang and trys to explain his brother about how foolish it all is.

Gotti : Can be found on youtube in many parts. The plot focuses and is based on real life Mob Boss John Gotti and his rise to power in the Gambino crime family, a criminal organization that exists to this very day in NY and America. The story is full of betrayals, twists and shows how the more power you have the more likely you'll be taken down.

Witness to the mob : can be found on Youtube in parts, Only it focuses on John gotti's best friend and right hand man, sammy "the bull" Gravano who eventually was the one who brought down Gotti and other top members at the time due to Sammy becoming a rat for the federal government.

I Will add more to the list as you put down movie's with that gta feel to them.
Also if you don't know the Football Factory had Rockstar games as Executive Producers

[Note] Only Films that you think fit gta

Haven't watched it yet, but Shank would probably fit GTA - its about gangs taking over London in 2015
Anuvahood was hilarious and some characters would be utterly brilliant in a GTA, like Tyrone:
