Are you talking about a DVD-ROM drive (the one that goes in the computer) or a DVD player (the one that's near your TV)?

If you're talking about a DVD-ROM drive, as long as it's not too old, it should read (and only read, not write) CD-R's or CD-RW's.

If you're talking about a DVD player, it'll read MP3 CD-R's/CD-RW's or Video-CD's.

Not old DVD players. I have the same problem. Sucks too because the sound system it's hooked up to is sweet.

Ahh yeah, the old DVD players won't read anything but DVD's...

It sucks because, as you said, a lot of people with home theaters and stuff can't take full advantage of them... confused.gif

Yeah, mines old. And yes, I'm talking of the one near your TV. I've found some useful sites giving different models and what they're able to play. Think mine can play CD-RW's.

El-cheapo generic-brand DVD players usually play anything you put into them. They probably won't last longer than a year, but at less than $100(AU), you can't go wrong.

However, if you don't want a new player/replacement, I guess my advice is useless. sad.gif
