Hi guys, I recently bought San Andreas from STEAM and I have not been able to even start playing yet, no .set files in MY Documents, and I have never installed mods. Really sucks because I payed, which I expect it to work. confused.gif Any suggestions? I also tried reinstalling several times. Also what happens is after the opening cover art picture it crashes, saying GTA_SA.exe has encountered a problem. Please help guys.

EDIT: Sorry guys, I have Windows XP, and I am way above recommended requirements.

Try running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode. Make sure there are no applications running in the background that may interfere with the game. Also, have you tried updating your video drivers? That's important too.

How do you go into compatibility mode? Also yes, everything up to date. If 98 Mode is when you right click the .exe then it's not there.

Uhh, no. Right click on gta_sa.exe, Properties, Compatibility, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows 98 / Windows Me"

I really, really, hate these Downloads.
What have you found (if anything) at the Steam Support referenced in my post above?

Do you have 32-bit or 64-bit XP? I know that 64-bit can cause problems with San Andreas.
