Hi. Going to start with pc spec:

GeForce GTX 560 SE 1GB
Intel® Core i5-3570K
4GB DDR3 ram

A test I ran showed that my computer met the "optimized requirement" by quite a bit, the cpu bar beeing twice as long as the optimized requirement bar. If I keep texture quality at medium, I can put every other setting to max and still run the game flawlessly, but if I move texture quality to "high", it lags beyon belief (something like 1fps). Even the menu is a bitch to maneuver making it hard to put the texture quality back to medium. Why is this happening? Will having a higher texture quality greatly increase the graphical quality of the game?

Upgrade your game to the latest patch. Texture Quality means more likely Original Version (1.0.0.0), which is crap.
I don't understand what will change if you increase your Texture Quality?

Do you have any mods like ICEnhancer installed? If so, they are root cause of this bug. You can play the game on Medium-High settings but I recommend you to play on Low-Medium. Many times with high settings, crashes occur. Also, refer to topic's tips for improving your performance. Instead of increasing Texture Quality, mod you game with this tweak.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

A 560 should play high or maxed in 720p.

His condition of PC also matters. If he regularly defrags and cleans the PC files then he wouldn't have occurred with this problem.

Don't have any mods or anything. Are you saying that crashes can occur on High settings if I have a mod, or regardless?

The new patch fixed it wink.gif It also opened up a bunch of new settings I can change. By maxing out everything I get an fps of 15-17 which is kind of annoying. Why can't I run it with everything maxed out?

GTA 4 is badly optimized for PC.
As I previously suggested, try my tips regarding Performance. And yes, mods can affect your Graphical look and Performance.

set your vehicles slider to 1, and the shadows aren't THAT great anyway. medium or low slider setting is fine (imo). but to each their own.
