So I finally managed to pick up State Of Emergency for super cheap, I always loved this game because it's utterly mindless and super high octane. Strangely it seems to be a "Gathering" release, whereas I seem to remember the ps2 or whatever system it was release being by a Rockstar subsidiary, maybe that's still the case. Anyways.
Reason for the R* musing, is I'd be interested in finding out more about any possible ways of extracting peds and so forth from the SoE engine, possibly/hopefully for use in Vice, definitely for more research into peds, bones and so forth.

The file types are pretty confusing to me, but I only got the thing yesterday afternoon so it's early days yet. The common types seem to be .bin (only one I've previously encountered, and pretty commonplace), .pmf, .pmd, and .nai. Out of these, some of the .pmf and .pmd files seem to carry names of the hero characters, not able to work much else out from my sortof cursory dig through its data directories.

Anyone able to suggest some resources on this sortof detective work, or clues as to the basic uses of the above filetypes, I'd appreciate really any information at all, because it's gonna take me a long time to work out on me own, if the data can indeed be somehow extracted.

As always, should this fit better elsewhere, please do go ahead and move it with me apologies.

XXXXX

i got it for xbox some of the format's are the same when you see the .p << that p is for playstation
i just know this coes i hack a lot of console games
but as far as the format to the game State of Emergency for xbox the .bin files are there as the same with the playstation
there are also .xbd << i assume there textures from the name of them like freakskn.xbd
theres a copple of .cos files i suspect them to be coll type files
aswell as .xnf which i dont know what they are coes i dont rember there names right now off the top of my head

theres also video files ive seen in there that end with the letter v like .xwv or somthing i dont really rember but i know those are the videos

now down to the qustion @ hand can they be opened?
well i would think so but how i dont know imm sure there some kind of primitive mesh type files for the models and the .xbd type textures look to be a mock up of a .xbm or .xpm which is a
x-bitmap but one never knows

this game was first coded around the dreamcast but would not run stable on dreamcast coes of all the peds runing around
so the code was rewriten by hand for the playstation2 i believe
but the engine would not run on xbox but the code was all hand writen so they had to use it and format the game engine to run xbox style
this changed a copple of things the anamation rate was now 60 frames a sec as aposed to the playstation2 format which moved @ 30 frames a sec

now its just me but this game has been ran through the ringer coded for dreamcast relaced on playstation 2 engine mod's to run it on xbox and through it all no pc game came from it

now dealing in the past with rockstar games on playstation 2 and xbox there .dff 's and .txd's have been encriped so computer programs cant open them but with this game being bounced around from place to place like it was this makes it one of those old games that might have been packaged realy sloppy just to finish the project there might be no encription other than the extenction @ the end of the file
or quite the opposit it might be encripted from here to the moon

i was going to mess with some of the files i pulled off it but just got the game the other day <hade it once before but some little kid stole it from me > but this time my box is moded and its seting on my harddrive its only 690 some odd mb
small and effactive
the textures and models would work gr8 for gta3 or vc if we can just get the raw code out and make .txd's and .dff's out of them

<note> i want them just to play with the textures on the game but imm willing to let any one that wants a copple of the files get ahold of them once i pull some over to my computer to try and open them but again one never knows might open them and have somthing to work with might get lots of errors and end up hex edditing them

but one thing is for sure they cant keep me out of the game info
what a curse it is to want to toy with every game made by rockstar on my xbox rahkstar2.gif

That's one big ass f*cken bump. Thanks much for the informations wink.gif I can't really tell where that leaves me but it'll probably be a decent read (skimmed biggrin.gif)

SoE beats the sh*t out of GTA on terms of peds and some other things for sure, I more want to just reverse engineer things though really, converting is the worst bullsh*t on which point i shall now digress hehe. But yeah I want to pull their arms off and see where the wiggly bits tie together and stuff, I'll take another look at this ps2 format. Tenchu has me looking at this junk again (more reverse engineering), maybe I'll finally get to the bottom of it.

Well, cheers rampage_ani.gif
