Lance betrayed Tommy for money plain and simple.

Yeah, we learned that in Vice City Stories(VCS)-that Lance was just about the money and power, which is why his brother, Vic didn't really like nor trust him..Just look at the VCS mission where you(Vic) first meet Lance in VC-he acted like he wasn't really happy to see him..Also, How Lance was getting more and more into the drug trade, yet Vic keeps telling him how they are "suppose to be getting out of this.." throughout the entire storyline, for example...

So, that right there should have given Tommy reason to doubt if Lance is trustworthy or not? As Lance betrays Diaz in 1984(VCS's time) as well as in 1986(VC's time)...Heck, Lance and Vic even betray the Mendez brothers as well..so, that shows Lance is just after money and power and nothing else and will do just about anything to get it...

I didn't really go off topic, as I kept it related to Vice City at least-lol lol.gif tounge2.gif

why vic was killed for drugs or what

Yes, as seen in the opening movie of Vice City, Vic Vance was killed in the ambushed drug deal gone bad...Just a heads up..

Vic was most likely killed for money. Diaz's men ambushed the meeting in the beginning of VC, Tommy tells Sonny that they took the money and the drugs and killed two of their men. Diaz wanted the money and the drugs (presumably so that he could sell them to make even more money).

Lets be honest here though, almost every GTA protagonist is a backstabbing snake. I mean, if Tommy received a mission form Kent-Paul or someone asking him to kill Lance, he'd do it wouldn't he?

I mean, how many times did Claude change sides? Cippriani killed off JD O'tool for no reason. CJ stabbed Salvator in the back. In GTA no matter how much history you have with someone, if someone pays you a decent amount of money to ice them, you won't even hesitate.

Lance had reasons to not trust Tommy.

I disagree, I think they all had reasons to do what they did. Claude was just hired muscle, he wasn't on a side, JD was killed because he used to work for the Sindacco family and couldn't be trusted. CJ used Salvatore as a way to get info on the casino. Woozie was CJ's friend, Sal wasn't. Lance betrayed Tommy for money plain and simple.

Yeah, you have a good point, but to be frank:
Say you've already got 100% completion and for some reason Lance did not betray you in the last mission, and suddenly you got a call for an optional mission to ice Lance that got you say, a new car spawned at Vercettti Estate, or a new outfit like a tuxedo, you'd do it would you?

Probably becuase of what Vic said during the final mission, Last Stand in where Vic said "I'm not doing this for you, I'm doing it for me." where Diaz probably got taunted by Vic then he hired his hitmen to kill Vic(who probably arrived from Panama after 2 years) and bust the deal.

I always pictured Sonny as killing Lance if they managed to takeover the Vercetti Estate. Can't trust a traitor, y'know?

Also, @markusizr: ...Panama is a country. In Central America. whatsthat.gif

Lance probably had enough of Tommy, called Sonny and told him what really was going down, and tipped him off about Tommy printing fake money, and don't be surprised he screws you over.

I'm in agreement though. If Sonny & Lance kill Tommy, Sonny would probably screw Lance over too.

i was playing vc again and still dont understand why lance betrayed tommy for what

I always felt as if this was never fully explained and I too always wanted an answer. Some of the speculation here makes sense but I would have thought that R* would have explored it in VCS, but I guess not. confused.gif

Why would that be explored in VCS, when VCS's setting is 1984 and VC's is 1986-VC is 2 years later...? Tommy didn't come to VC until 1986-before that, he was in prison in LC(if you remember the opening movie of VC?) Just a heads up. tounge2.gif

Ha, yeah that wouldn't make sense. I was talking about the lead up to Vice City Stories, before I knew the time setting. I played GTA VC when it first came out, hoping for answers some how.

I think Sonny would of had Lance killed anyway, he was just using him for information and to screw Tommy over, if Sonny would of succeded in killing Tommy he wouldn't need Lance he already had hundreds of other goons.

Lance could of betrayed Tommy for a number or reasons. He could of felt like he wasn't treating him like a man, demanded more power or respect, envious of Tommy, or maybe he just snorted to much Cocaine and it went to his head.

Actually, I think of all the protagonists, Tommy was the most loyal to his own inner group. He had all cut a share of the profit throught the last mission.

Sure, he sent Ken away later, but that was because Ken got addicted and sooner or later would be liable to do something stupide® than usual. Can`t afford that kind of risk in your bussiness, but note how and where he sent him away.

He is spanish.Dominican so was his brother Lance.

He looked different because Vice City was made 4 years before VCS obviously
