First off, if there is a topic for this, please lock it delete it whatever.
I want to watch some good animes with good story and plot. I don't watch animes like Dragon Ball Z or Naruto. I loved Death Note because it had a great story and characters. Suggest some good ones please. I would love it if the anime was a psychological thriller.

I'm not a big fan of anime shows, mainly due to the overly produced intros saturated with J-pop and characters riding on magical clouds but two I can recommend are Fullmetal Alchemist and High School of the Dead, both available on Netflix and both offering great action and storytelling beyond that Pokemon type sh*t. Hetalia: Axis Powers is also a pretty clever and funny anime that's available again, on Netflix.

Try watching anything made by Hayao Miyazaki. Although I don't know if those films are classified as "anime" per se.

I heard Elfen Lied was good too. Should I watch it in English dub or Jap audio with subs?

you liked Death Note, same here and I liked Code Geass too, so that may be worth a try for you. Not so much a psychological thriller, but there are similarities to death note.

Two words: Cowboy Bebop.

Easily one of the best anime series to ever come out of Japan if not for its original and dynamic storyline then for its badass modern jazz soundtrack.

Elfen Lied is good, but it's also one of the most deeply depressing, dark, gorey stories I've ever seen. It's by no rights bad, it's just difficult to watch because it's beyond just dark.

Eureka Seven is a good one, if not a bit long and drawn out, one of my personal favorites. Spice and Wolf is amazing if you're looking for something without violence as a primary plot device as is The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Also, Darker Than Black I can't recommend enough.

I could list off dozens, but this is a decent start.

Absolutely loads I can recommend, from Cowboy Bebop through to Neon Genesis Evangelion, Elfen Lied to Gundam 00 and Code Geass

However if its something psychological you're after check out Paranoia Agent that is a massive mindf*ck, and it's not really a thriller but Neon Genesis Evangelion is worth watching, it marks a huge turning point for anime and mecha shows in general and has a good bit of psychological stuff in there. Also happens to be my favourite series.

It depends if you want series, OVA, or movie. If you want to watch anime movie you should try anything from Ghibli studios (absolutely briliant movies) or from Makoto Shinkai (very artistic animes with simple, but hard grabbing stories).

Yeah so I finished watching Elfen Lied today. It was the most amazing, depressingly dark and emotional stories! I loved it. I was almost in tears quite a few times.
So any other animes like this? I want ones that are depressing and tragic and shocking.

I don't watch anime so I can't recommend any shows. But I can recommend you a movie.

Ghost in the shell.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113568/

As I understand, it has a cult status among the anime fans. And it's awesome.

No, the first half of the series is alright, but Light is more or less the least likable protagonist in anything ever.

Ghost In The Shell, both of the movies, though the second is a pretty ridiculous mindf*ck as it should be as well as both series of Stand Alone Complex (the TV series adaptation and off-shoot of the movies) are definitely things to watch.
