How much space does each individual save file require (does it vary)? Does it require any additional files to be saved (settings, etc.)? -> If so how much space does that require? I have the "Greatest Hits" version if that matters.

I have an 8mb PS2 memory card. If it's completely empty, can I fit all 10 save files on it?

(Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, I searched for it but found nothing.)

First, What do you mean by "all 10 saves.."? as there are only 8 Save slots for the game..

Next, You can get A LOT of saves on a PS2 memory card, as I have 8 saves for SA PLUS 8 saves for VC PLUS 8 saves for III, PLUS 8 saves each for LCS and VCS Plus all 4 save slots for Scarface used and my memory card is not even full yet-I use the 16MB card for PS2 btw...even my 8MB card is not full with the same number of saves for each of the above games...

Saves only take up around 198kb of space, so that is not a lot...Here's proof of the save file sizes.. HTH

San Andreas save files are 198 KB (202,752 bytes) for PS2 and PC. Size on disk for PC is 200 KB (204,800 bytes). PS2 is probably close to the same. It looks like another 200 KB is used for icons files. Any photos will increase the gallery size quite a bit. I think there is also a settings file but I'm not seeing it anywhere in my AR-Max archives. I suspect this is a trivially small file though.

Also, can you have more than one set of 8 save files? Or do you only get 8 save files per memory card? Or 8 save files per disc?

Yes, III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS have 8 save slots only on all platforms-PS2, PC, and X-Box...IV and the EFLC games were the only ones to come with 12 plus the Auto save slot on PS3, 360, and PC...

On the PC you can save more by changing the name of the save files not currently in use. then when you do want to use them you will hve to change the name back. The consoles don't have the ability, to my knowledge.

On PS2 I find photos use up a lot of space, I had all the save slots used up and it was about 8,000 KB so I deleted all my photos and it changed to about 1,500 KB

There is a selection to NOT Save photos to the Gallery, to save that space. And photo saving isn't really necessary, especially on the PS2.

I presume one can do the same trick as a PC user would; keep the saved games on a computer and then copy the desired save files over to a memory card when one wants to play them.
