Hi, I was told that GTA IV runs better with the 1.0.4.0 patch rather than the 1.0.7.0 patch, so I decided to download the 1.0.4.0 patch again. The installation was successful, but when I click on LaunchGTAIV.exe, and click 'Play(Offline)' from the 'Log In To Social Club' tab (I only wish to play single-player), I see the little spinning disc icon, then nothing, then a loading icon on the cursor, and the 'Log In To Social Club' tab comes back up. The game doesn't start because of this, and I suspect that it had something to do with the 1.0.4.0 patch I downloaded. Should I have deleted the 1.0.7.0 patch first? I don't know what I've done wrong. I just recently solved my 'DD3D80' error, and I'm not in the mood for any further frustration. Can anyone help? (And just a side note: I'm kind of new to GTA IV on PC, so I don't exactly know my way around these errors.)

Firstly, to install an older patch, you have to uninstall the game, install, then applying the patch.

But the problem here is the inability to log in to Social Club. Of course you won't, since you need the latest patch. You have to choose between performance and online accessibility. smile.gif

Well, on that machine patch 4 is probably a better choice. In addition to what prometheusx said I'd suggest using xliveless to completely disable RGSC+GFWL. You can also remove those applications manually afterward as I doubt that PC can provide a decent online experience anyway.

I've recently upgraded to 3GB RAM, but I've just decided to try and bear 1.0.7.0 until I upgrade my PC entirely. Thanks for the help anyways biggrin.gif
