I liked the trees in Red Dead Redemption more. Just my opinion.

This is a subject thread? That said, the trees and foliage look fine. I suspect you have a cheaper graphics card or perhaps you need to rethink your graphics settings. I'll admit that some of the building textures could be better (I design textures for a couple of clients) but that's just par for the course with games. GTA-SA for example had what we call LOD or low object definition textures for when things were at a distance and normal ones which were seen when you were in their immediate vicinity and I'll admit that those trees looked pretty bad - but the ones in GTA-IV are just fine. There is also a mod for GTA-IV which bestows on the user much higher resolution graphics, but I'll be honest, I have not used it but have seen video of it and it looks amazing.

I never paid much attention to how they looked, but it always bothered me that the thin trees on the side of the road were indestructible.

A normal car going fast enough can rip a concrete telephone pole from it's foundations, but if I hit a tiny tree at 100mph with a truck in GTAIV the truck comes to a standstill. One *could* argue that it's a video game, not real life -but they went to the trouble of creating plenty of other objects around Liberty City that could be moved and broken, why not the tiny trees?

I suspect Axer that it is not about how many pixels would have to be re-drawn to give the impression of accurately falling trees, but more so because the tree itself would have to be animated accurately landing and compressing, which would look very fake even if it sort of collided with the street. But I agree, trees should be subject to the same laws as other solid objects and when struck could perhaps simply fade out and vanish.

And in reply to GTAking33 I suspect that the poster is simply attempting to be an attention seeker. He has posted several threads like this now, which is fine, but if he wants to make friends I suggest he considered another method - perhaps inviting other players here at the forum to a multiplayer game? That way we can all get to see how each of us fights and then make character call on it accordingly.

I have no intention of wasting my time making a map just to please you, but if you really want me to hammer it home - your maps are pretty awlful and your promotion of them is very egocentric so get over yourself and less of the lip.

Hate to say this, but recently I've strayed to the Dark Side, yes, that's right ... I've been playing Saints Row the Third and their trees are amazing looking! However, for sheer playability, you can't beat GRAND THEFT AUTO IV.
