R* have confirmed that they are creating a GTA game for the PSP which will be set in Liberty City but with a different storyline and all the characters including the one you play as will be different aswell. So expect GTA3 setting, but a refreshed version.I can also confirm it is being made by R* Leeds.
Any more info i can find i'll post on here to keep everyone well informed.

Man, this news is so old. But I really don't like the fact is choosing to go back to GTA3. I want to see new thigns and not a setting I already saw. I know they'll have new additions, but still they shudda made a new place.

are we really sure that its gonna be in Liberty City? I'm gutted if thats the case, LC was cool an'all but i was really hoping that theyd do a GTA London1969 just to finish off making re-makes of all the originals

Yes, it's pretty much the only official info we have of it, besides the release date.
