Hello everyone,

I have GTA IV for PC with mods installed. It runs very good on maximum graphic settings with Icehancer, better city textures, some other map textures, a few script mods, edited american.gxt, some sound mods and all police uniforms and vehicles replaced.

As I said, all this runs fine with a minimum of texture problems biggrin.gif

Now I have installed about 15 - 20 modified cars to further increase the 'New York' feeling, because thats what I'm trying to do with GTA IV. Now the problems begin.

It is far from a disaster, but it can be a bit anoying sometimes; when I'm free roaming for more than 15 minutes, textures start loading a bit slow. This is best visible when I'm in Lower Alqonguin (the scyscraper part under Middle Park) When I'm looking in a direction and turn around I can see some stuff in the distance still loading.

Is there a way to solve to this?

I already added some commandlines like - nomemrestrict and two others which really helped. Or should I lower my graphic settings? My computer can handle them though, in free froam with max settings and Icehancer I still get 40 - 50 frames per second without any lag spikes.

NEVERMIND GUYS, I solved it. I removed all my car mods (except for my police vehicles, ambulance, firetruck, taxi's, bus and New York Helitour Maverick) and downloaded and installed 'The Essential Car Pack', which replaces 47 cars in the game. It works perfectly, almost no texture problems ^^

avoid oversized mods/textures . the lighter your cars mods will be the bigger chance you'll have to have a bug free game . personnally almost all my cars are below 4 Mo , and i have not even the shadow of a bug

i read somewhere that your vehicles.img must have 100 MB or less to avoid that problems.
i had a lot of car mods and my game was running too slow and i replaced by originals and now works fine.

for having a vehicle.img file size of 100 Mo you'll have to mod only few number of cars . personnally i don't see the point . a realistic traffic is nice but if it's to have always the same dozen of cars spawning rolleyes.gif . you want a cool modded game just do a cross on high res stuff . when you run à 60 fps you don't need high res stuff . the game is phenomenal cool.gif

My vehicles.img is 235 mb and I don't have any texture problems anymore. I downloaded 'the essential car pack' which gives you 45 brand new cars. When I installed car mods individually I did have texture problems. The one who made the car pack said its purpose was to give the player new cars without giving any texture problems.

I think going over the 100 mb limit isn't the problem, since I'm over it more than twice. I think each car individually may not be to big.

I understand that you don't get the point but it does have a point for me since I want to give GTA IV a real New York feeling.

IcEhancer 1.35, better city textures, Metlife building, Statue of Liberty, New York subway, Times Square, New York Roadsigns, New York busses and taxi, New York firetruck and ambulance, New York Police Departement vehicles and cars, NYPD sirens, Real gunsounds, Real billboards, modified American.gxt so that all placenames are like in New York, Burger King mod, Coca cola truck, can and vending machines, Real Shops mod V1.6, New York License plates, New York subway train, Trafficflow mod (to prevent taxi bug, new york has a lot of taxi's but the taxi bug is a bit to much tounge.gif) and probably some more mods which adds New York feeling.

So with all those mods, a real traffic mod is necessarily to give the New York feeling a good boost. wink.gif Yes the original game is great, but with mods its even better because you can make it like you want it biggrin.gif

I understand what you're saying. I currently have a 663 mb vehicles.img file along with TrafficLoad and my game runs great. I've realized that sometimes it can be the car that you put in. Sometimes some cars are so big in file size that traffic fixes can't spawn them and that's what causes your texture popins.
