Basically, I'd like to know of any excellent locations you've found for standoffs with the police, where you can last ridiculously long amounts of time without cheats. I found a rooftop somewhere around downtown (south of Star Junction) a while back, and it was accessible from the ground only by a ladder, it overlooked a busy street, and it was between some sky scrapers *just* right to make things exceedingly difficult for the police Mavericks/Annihilators. I sat on that rooftop shooting police that climbed the ladder until I finally ran out of ammo, and I giggled madly at all the ways they twitched, yelped, and pirouetted before they fell to their death or grievous injury in the alley below, only to try again. If anyone has found this rooftop, or a similar area and would like to share, I'd appreciate it.

EDIT: Turns out I was way off the mark. The rooftop is actually in Alderney City, and I managed to find it again. I think the tall buildings in the area are what caused me to think skyscrapers , a la Star Junction. I'll try to get a map image up soon.

First load up on weapons and armor. Here's some free ones.map

Go to the turismo dealership right behind your southern most safehouse in Algonquin. Steal a car. That will get you 1 star. Park the car in front of the stairway so the cops can't get up the stairs. Then shoot a cop who is close by. That will get you 3 stars.
Go up the stairs and break the window and drive a car out there and park it so you can still shoot down on the street. I always park it on the left up against the wall. While you're up here, the helicopters can't get you because of the tall buildings. And if you crouch no one can get a shot at you.
Then you can just peek out and shoot or toss grenades and the cops and cop cars. It's usually pretty easy to get up to 6 stars tossing grenades if you are a good shot.
Also, don't go back inside or your wanted level will go down to 3 stars.
After you get the 1 man army, jump in the car and try outrunning the cops with 6 stars. It's great fun.
I like doing this in TBOGT and then racing over to the buzzard and blowing up all the police helicopters and so forth.

Twitchins' Sugar Factory in Broker. The stretch of pavement that's level with the sea at the rear of the factory. There's oil tanks everywhere, the small red kind that rare easy to spot and explode with a single bullet. You're covered from police choppers since there's a sort of awning over this stretch of pavement. The cops will try to come around the side to reach you, but they'll need to drop off a ledge and hurt themselves to even get a shot, and then they'll run directly into the water and drown haha. There's a dark tunnel across from where the cops land, and you can run into it and hide in the shadows. But it's not entirely protected, you still need a strategy and to be moving. It just gives you a chance to recuperate inbetween shootouts.

The lake at Middle Park. Go to the smaller part of the lake and there is an area with an awning and a fence around it. Climb the fence, take cover and start shooting. The police won't climb the fence, and choppers can't get you because of the awning.

The Steinway Beer Garden is a good place to have a shootout in.
Basically all you need to do is shoot a cop (earning you a 3 star wanted level) and then go to the very back of the bar and take cover, the police will hopefully (you may need to go outside ever now and then to reclaim their attention) run into the bar and because the bar is small they do not have so much cover, I managed to reach a 5 star wanted level in there before a NOOSE agent shot me whilst I was reloading my weapon. And for a bit more added fun throw a grenade at them whenever you want to.

I like to hold off on rooftops with Dwayne's backup. Earn a three-star wanted lever, and enter the building and get to the roof access. No doubt there will be a helicopter, shoot it down. I reccomend having a Rocket Launcher or Assault Rifle, to kill the pilot. Once six stars have been earned, we make our way down the stairs again, by now though backup should have left, kill any authorities in the way. Once you reach the street level, there will probably be cops everywhere. Make your way to the nearest subway station, and follow the tracks until escaping the search area.

Burger Shots are my favorite, since there's so many. Just go in one, start killing the customers/employees, then when cops start coming after you just pop them as they come through the door.

The Cabaret Club on the first island is where I achieved my one man army achievement, I did have Dwaynes back up with me, after murdering every single person in the club attaining a wanted level, we just stood on the stage and blew the life out of any law enforcement that came through the doors. Those guys are pretty damb effective at distracting the polices fire away from yourself making taking them out really quite easy I thought I was going to have to resort to hiding on train tracks to get this achievement, but alas I did it the proper way, albeit with a a little help from my friends

I got the perfect spot for you:

PIER 45

you call Dwayne's thugs, then shoot a cop in front of Pier 45. You park vehicles in front of the stairs and jump over them...

now have fun with a SCARFACE-like standoff...lots of police will appear while you stay above and shoot them...but actually they can hit you too. You got a great overview and can hide if you need to.

There's also health (SPRUNK all over the place... and a HEALTHPACK upstairs). many ways to escape, too...

Ok so I decided to take out all 200 pigeons. Like many peeps, I missed some. 5 of them.

So I swam out to the 7th concrete base under the Broker - Bohan bridge to be sure I had taken out the pigeon that hangs there. I was wanted for busting through the tollgate.

I got to wondering if, like in San Andreas, cop cars were parked on top of the bridge, and I shot the RPG to the bottom of the bridge, would the explosion take out the vehicles and peeps on top of the bridge.

Yes.

Naturally, I got to 3 star wanted level really fast. Decided to keep it up and got to 6 stars.

You just keep giving yourself new health and armor and ammo from the cell phone, and using your RPG to shoot the choppers down, and use the assault rifle to pick off any survivors.

Another place I discovered just this evening was the porno shop just off Triangle East.

I commandeered one of the city buses there, and parked it so it was directly in front of the door.
Went downstairs to the porno shop and stayed there blasting everyone who tried to come down the stairs.

Those are two I discovered where your last stand can last forever, pretty much.

OK So here is how I done it, I first got my wanted level up to 6 stars by entering a locked Island. I then got back in my car (Roman's Taxi) and drove like crazy to the nearest hospital, jumped out my car and ran inside. I immediately jumped over the reception desk on my left and hid behind the wall. If you are fast enough before the first cop goes through the hospital door you can hide there unseen. They will come in there masses but not be able to find you, just as long as you don't open fire or bring any attention to yourself. Once you have got your achievement, you can then enjoy a good shootout. In blind cover you can lost as long as your ammo does.

It's great fun, there are a couple of you tube clips of people doing similar things.

My favorite police stand off place is the warehouse with the sprunk machines. You go there during a quest for Manny. It's great since there's only one easily accessible entrance, and you can block the door with a car. Just get up a 4-6 star wanted level, go to the warehouse, (in Bohan I think) and just lob grenades at the door whenever they try to come in. It's great for standing at the back of the warehouse and practicing your sniping. And it's great fun to equip your rocket launcher, wait for the door to open, and then shoot just when it opens. It goes through and blows up like six cars that are probably parked outside because of all of the police trying to swarm in.
