Wasn't Packie responsible for the whole kidnap, so he simply choose Gordon to do the job. Not like he had any choice. There weren't many people left to keep an eye on her.

It is revealed in "Waste Not Want Knots" that he does have a gambling problem, maybe the McRearys worried about what he would do with the money also? (Getting into deeper trouble with the Messinas). Or maybe (as revealed in Team Mafiya Work) that could be the time when he did that "favour" for Kenny Petrovic?

Gerald got an idea with this kidnap and he wanted Packie to do it, but Gerry wasn't in position to make many moves. And what if you didn't spare him?
