[vice city pro]

hi guys.I have completed GTA vice city for the 5TH time,but this time on my PC.But I used cheats the whole time while playing.I have now started a new game on friday and am going to try not to use cheats.I have not used 1 cheat so far but there is a problem...When I get to the FASTEST BOAT mission (DIAZ's mission),once I kill all the guards at the warehouse,I go to the control panel in the warehouse to lower the boat,but as soon as the boat drops,it just dissappears and then vice city freezes and the Unhandled exception c0000005 At address 005c2d01 comes on.I have done sooo much research about this and nothing seems to work.I have seen the VICE CITY bug checklist on GTA FORUMS and I cant find anything that helps with this.And I have seen other posts about Unhandled exceptions but nothing seems to work.I have deleted my MP3 files from vice city documents,I have deleted the GTA-VICE CITY.SET file,I have tried to run vice city as administrator but it freezes before it loads.I have tried to run vice city as WINDOWS 98 and the XP service pack 2+3 and windows 7.But it also freezes before it loads.I have uninstalled and reinstalled but that does not solve anything.I have also tried to add the .set file to DEP but this does not solve anything.(NB:I dont think I did it right though.)
I took my computer in about 8 months ago and got EVERYTHING UPDATED and bought BRAND new equipment.IE:drivers,motherboard,CPU's,RAM and everything else so I have an EXTREMELY great system.Reason I took my computer in and did such an expensive overhaul is so that it runs perfectly while playing Flight Simulator X.I play online.So I have a GREAT systems.+- $1000 spent overhauling it(R6500.00 here in south africa).

I have Windows 7 basic or Home basic.

$1000 for that system?! Either stuff is very costly in SA or you've been fooled. And that system is nowhere near great. It's mediocre at best.

Anyways, there's nothing you can do now. I'm guessing your issue might have something to do with video drivers. Have you updated them? If yes, try reinstalling your video drivers.

I am having the same problem

I had completed approx. 70% of the game (including most sub-missions) and was halfway through The Job mission when I failed it.
A few days later, I reloaded my game which was saved before The Job, get into the car, and I get the Unhandled Exception error when I am heading west over the Starfish Island bridge, going towards Cherry Poppers.

I tried playing without loading any mission, and get the same error in the same spot during general play.
I tried loading an older save game well before The Job, same error, same place.
I deleted the .set file, re-installed the game - still same error.
I can drive around almost anywhere else - but as soon as I am close to Cherry Poppers, the game crashes.

I have no mods installed, and have not used any cheats.
Does anyone have any clue as to what the problem is?

NB: There are two Unhandled Exceptions I am aware of. This specific one (005c2d01) and another beginning with 006. I know how to fix the latter, just not the former

Ok... I know (next to) nothing about the PC version...

That being said--- I searched that unhandled exception error here and didn't really find a solution

One of the more recent posts of this error-- Spaceeinstein mentioned that it has something to do with water--- others mentioned it had to do with mods and/or garages.

Is your save totally clean (wasn't started on a modded game)??

Your mission is occurring near the water so it might have something to do with the former...

Have you tried reducing draw distance and/or toggling the frame limiter (off or on) for this mission to see if that affects.

And I read this before and it fixed a specific windows 7 issue for the mouse-- maybe it will do something for you-- under the compatibility tab (when you run the .exe file)-- select "disable visual themes".... http://www.dedoimedo.com/games/gta-vice-city-windows-7.html

If all else fails-- use timevault to skip the mission....

Exceptions like this normally mean its trying to accessthe memory location where data is already held. Try disabling some things in task manager that do not need to run. Try disabling security whilst playing, browser, Xfire etc...
