Hello. I may be purchasing a PS2 soon to be playing Sony exclusive games such as Vice City Stories. Since a used one is the cheapest and my best option, I will be buying a used PS2 Slimline and I was wondering whether it will be able to handle the GTA series well. Specifically, the three I was planning to play on the console were VCS, LCS and the original VC.

Thank you, and please don't say "Dude, buy a PS3, they are so much better, PS2's are old now" because I have an Xbox 360 to play the newest and latest games.

The PS2 can handle the GTAs as well as the PC and Xbox. It all really boils down to how much you care about the graphics.

LCS frame rate on PS2 is terrible. VC and VCS runs good. VC graphic is better on PS2 than PC. Yup, buy ps2 :-)

Almost all the time; framerate in Portland (Leone mafia territorry) and whole second island are crap :> beside of this is a cool game

There IS something wrong with double posting, its against the rules.

Btw, if you want GTA games from that era, get them on these consoles for the best of fun:

GTA3: Xbox (best graphics)
GTA VC: Xbox (best graphics)
GTA SA: Ps2 (best graphics)
GTA LCS: PS2 (Best graphics)
GTA VCS: PS2 (Best graphics)

The SA on PS2 is the best for graphics because on PC its watered down, and on xbox the colors of textures are horrible and milky.

Yea, care only about the graphics that you are given and ignore the ability to improve graphics yourself through the use of mods.

He was asking about consoles. You cant mod consoles (you can, but its not legal.)
