I have been desperately trying to find a proper format and codec for my videos that doesn't compress them too much or messes them up. I can't find anything to use. I have used H.264 which is very popular at the moment and supposedly the best codec to use for YouTube videos, but the software I used (Freemake Video Converter) didn't allow me to tweak the settings for the codec too much. As a result, the rendered video, despite the video bitrate I selected (32 Mbps) had selected automatically a small bitrate always under 2 Mbps. That happened because my video was simple, just an image plus music.
I have tried other formats as well, some turned out to be better than H.264 but still not good enough. The rendered video looked crappy still.
The problem is with the logo in the image that I used in the video. This is the image:
http://i.imgur.com/73e6H.pngAs you can see, the logo has a gradient coloring which gave all codecs I've used real problems. That's mostly the area where the compression fails and visual artifacts appear.
Do you have any idea about what codec I should use to get a proper result with as little artifacts as possible? I use Sony Vegas Pro 10 by the way, so I need format\codec suggestions that are supported by that software. I would like a format that supports WAV for lossless audio.
Alternately, you could suggest me another software that is freeware, but in this case I would like one that can do batch rendering (rendering multiple videos in a row).
Late edit: Screw that. I am going to settle for a simpler background that will solve my problem. This topic can be locked as well.
