I grew up playing GTA 3 and Vice City, but never really played San Andreas. The possibility of Rockstar producing Vice City (and/or) San Andreas for iOS was interesting to me. I'd love either one because I enjoy the idea of having GTA on my iPhone 4, but that isnt the point. Which would you guys on this forum, that have way knowledge of Grand Theft Auto prefer for iOS and in general?

VC. SA is good, but CJ has nothing on Tommy IMO. Oh and 80s >90s.

Vice City, as far the game itself goes.

San Andreas wins in the modding category, obviously.

It's pointless to compare such a good games like Grand Theft Auto between themselves. Each one has their own atmosphere and story to tell you, which makes a piece from one big story (III ERA).

Gameplay: San andreas. tons of activities, tons of veichles, tons of shops, clothes, the ability to swim and climb. If Vice city was good, San andreas was GOD

City: San andreas is 3-5 times bigger than Vice city, not to count the hidden interiors. And even the single cities (LS, SF, LV) are better than that flat island in florida.

Protagonist: Tommy vercetti. yes, tommy is a rip off of scarface. And yes, tommy is a terminator (almost) without feelings. But who cares? he's great, funny and Ray liotta makes everything better. CJ is only a "Dumb. San andreas. Moron": powerless, used by everyone, he shows his strenght only few times. and his gangsta attitude hurts me (but that's my problem)

Sound: Vice city. better soundtrack, better sounds (the weapons...my god, the weapons in san andreas are so ugly, they sounds like toys).

Feelings, "vibe" of the game: I do not want to say " '80s > '90s ", but San andreas seems ugly, cold and "unpolished" sometimes, while vice city has a great feeling.

Storyline: vice city. while the section in los santos is very good, after that the game goes insane, and the parade of GTA III/VC characters seems only to exist to make the game longer. too many "guest stars" (from other games). Vice city is great, with a fast-paced story (in the first part), and the innovation of build your empire.

GTA SA in all ways: Voice acting, characters, story, size of map, content, fun factor, graphics, music.

GTA VC was weak. It was good, but not worth being a GTA game. GTA SA actually did a good thing to the series. VC was just another random GTA Game. In my way of thinking, GTA SA should of been the true GTA IV. Plus, the GTA SA story was original and cool. While the GTA VC story was really a rip off from scarface.

Not worth being a GTA game? Are you f*cking kidding? Have you ever seen Scarface? While VC drew inspiration from it aswell as Miami Vice and other 80s pop culture it wasn't a copy and paste job of Scarface's plot.

I suppose it was alright for SA to parody Boyz N The Hood, Ocean's 11, Training Day etc then? It's fine if you don't like the game, but think next time before you come across as a brainless SA fanboy.

VC was not just a "random" GTA. Many people adore it and for some it was the closest thing they got to experiencing the 80s. I'll put things into perspective. If it wasn't for the success of VC there would've been no SA, so yes VC done more than you give it credit for.

I grew up playing Vice City, however I think that when I finally chance to play GTA SA, it beat Vice City by a landslide. It including so much realism I couldn't possibly imagine that they would put in to a GTA game. GTA SA is the best gang game by far. I was pretty disappointed that GTA IV didn't include the features from GTA San Andreas.

If SA was released in '08 instead of IV, it would have been laughed at. Take off the nostalgia goggles, SA isn't as good as you would like to think.

San Andreas wins for me

+ SA has much more possibilities than VC
+ SA gameplay is much more fun than VC
+ SA missions are cooler and more spectacular than VC (for example Black Project)
+ SA modifications are better than VC
+ SA has more vehicles than VC
+ SA has gang wars

- VC has a more GTA feeling than SA
- In VC you can buy company's, in SA only safehouses and Wang Cars
- VC has more humor than SA

This is my opinion offcoarse, don't forget that.

Alright for me game play wise I like San Andreas more. However Vice City was a real classic and after III it must have been amazing to see a whole new GTA game in Sunny Miami, the storyline was also original and really gripping. Vice city also had the best radio IMO and it was also full of gameplay like boats, seaplanes, lots of stuff to it.m

Vice City to me, because it had that vibe. SA was good, but the characters seemed dull and the same, while they all had different characteristics in VC. The characters were all unique but the story wasn't that pleasing for me, I liked how San Andreas panned out, but I think they lacked the characteristics to all characters.

The majority of people are going to say San Andreas - everyone arse licks that game, and the amount of obsessed little fanboys it has is ridiculous.

But Vice City for me, whilst San Andreas on a whole is clearly the best PS2 game ever because of the content, story, and missions - Vice City is my favourite.

The soundtrack, the vibe, the storyline, Scarface, the whole atmosphere of the game is amazing.
It made me fall in love with the 80's and it's the first GTA game I properly got into, so it'll always be my favourite - and Tommy was clearly the best protagonist in GTA History.

It really annoys me how GTA III and SA have/are getting their little 'remakes' and Vice City hasn't - and in GTA VI if Rockstar skip Vice City, I'm going to really feel cheated. Because they were able to recapture that 80's vibe in 2006 with Vice City Stories, so I would love to see it done again.

Vice City all the way. The storyline was wonderfully written (in contrast to SA's case of ADHD), the characters were great (especially, Tommy, the biggest badass in any GTA game), the game has the best licensed soundtrack of any video game to date, the city is beautiful without an inch of wasted space, and every feature adds to the game.

In this case of Quality over Quantity, Quality wins.
