hey I just reinstalled GTA 4 after a few years of it sitting on my shelf... I have a nice quad core now, as compared to my crappy pentium D I had before, so I figured I would give the game a try..

It runs all right, but the options menu isn't the same as what I remember.

This is what it looks like now:

but when I played it before, there was more options, like this:

Now, when I installed the game, I forget if I installed the latest patch. Is that where all the options are?

thankyou!

The graphics options were changed in the later patch.

By the way, to get better performance with very little loss in graphics, turn water quality to high, night shadows off and view and detail distance to about 30, 45.

oh ok I see...

BTW don't mind the pics, they are not from my system.. I just got them off the net.

I have everything on very high, except shadows (on high) and everything at 100 exept detail distance (at 85)

and with those settings I am averaging 25-30 FPS which is great to play on.. a good combination of quality and peformance.. I just wish I could put shadows on very high, but I only have 1gb of vid memory, and it really slows the game down if I go over that.

To be honest, with the way the game is running on my PC, I can sacrifice a bit of peformance for graphics tounge.gif tounge.gif

before I upgraded to the hardware I have now, I was getting 10-15fps at the lowest settings, so now the game seems smooth as warm butter biggrin.gif

All I have to do now is install ENBseries, and GTA enviroment mod..

It makes me mad that GTA doesn't have any form of AA... And even more mad that I can't even force it!!! like wtf?!?!

Thankyou for the info though, I was really wondering on why the menus were different from what I remember!

Feel free to lower view distance to about 50, I doubt you can spot any difference between 50 and 100 on that resolution.
