anyone know what I got edit to make it so that trains are 8 or 6 carriages and not 3 or 2

if you're trying to do this modification in original game i don't think it's a good idea as the passengers will go out on the rail track , and this will eventually lead to crash . if you're doing a custom map then i never heard of such tweak and thus don't know how to do the trick

well, i don't think it's impossible, but i haven't seen any mod for that. but u can always try do it if it's not hardcoded into the game

I've seen anything in between 2-4 subway cars connected at a time
